Love-[sic] Loners Congregate and Conjugate in Theatre Ninjas' Juxtapositional Human Comedy


In the regional premiere of [sic] by Cleveland's ever-roaming talent troupe Theater Ninjas, Melissa James Gibson's script is wry, winsome, and wickedly relatable. Forget clever wordplay-- Gibson is a master in the art of wordworking  How often have you spoken with a friend while listening to your own inner dialogue? That's what makes the dialogue so indelibly indistinguishable.

Director Pandora Robertson's staging is manic-aggressive, with characters stomping to answer the door, not-so-subtly sneaking out at night, and skulking around in their studio apartments. She keeps poking the bruised egos of her charges, never allowing any of them to fully heal. Robertson also keeps the pace of the piece ebbing and flowing nicely, buoyed by the measured measures of Michael Bratt's musical composition…
