Cleveland Public Theatre asks...

What do you get when you mash up Roman antiquity, post-apocalyptic design, soaring rock-and-roll riffs and Shakespeare's most notorious bloodbath?
Add the "wonderfully demented" mind of director Craig J. George and an all-star artistic team and you get...

TITUS: A GRAND AND GORY ROCK MUSICAL
**World Premiere**
Onstage now through March 22

Critics and audiences alike are delighting in CPT's "Grand & Gory" answer to the winter doldrums...

"What is playing is a revisited, reinvented world premiere version of "Titus Andronicus" that has been filtered through the wonderfully demented mind of adopter/director Craig J. George. The result is the guilty pleasure that is [CPT's "Titus"]. "Limbs are torn off, tongues are cut out...and everybody sings," announces the production's promotional poster. Yes they are, yes they do, and sometimes in that particular order."

"A rocking dramedy that will have you guessing what the hell you are in the middle of. Just when you think it is a tongue-in-cheek send-up of the bard, comes a quick shift into a dramatic scene that holds you in Shakespearian delight, moved and enlightened...And just when your iambic pentameter is assuaged, sh*t happens! Oh, what a glorious night of theatre indeed!

"The night I saw the show, the audience was rocking and laughing. Rocking with the overly loud music...and laughing at the blood spurting, limbs being separated from bodies, the overacting and screaming of many of the cast, and the overblown farce. But, those actions, which would have been negatives in a traditional production, all worked for the intent and purpose of this script."
