Karamu House presents The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity by Kristoffer Diaz  March 14 to April 6, 2014 in its Jelliffe Theatre.  The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity," Kristoffer Diaz's vibrant play set in the wacky world of professional wrestling, seems tailor-made for people who find contemporary drama dull, staid and more or less irrelevant. This satirical work, which opens tonight, at Karamu House, leaps out of the Jelliffe Theatre frame at every opportunity, exhorting, drop-kicking and body-slamming its way into an immediacy that is more familiar to sporting events and rap concerts than to a traditional night of theater.
Professional wrestler Marion Fontaine states "The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity is a play that allows for a crossover audience between wrestling and theater enthusiasts. It really gives a unique look into professional wrestling. As a wrestler myself, I'm excited to witness the performance and delivery. It's exciting to see the play come to Cleveland."
Mace is a great professional wrestler, but he's no champion-that's the impossibly charismatic, Chad Deity. When Mace discovers a young Indian-American Brooklyn kid whose charisma rivals that of the champ, Mace decides to get him a job in the company.  Only problem is, the boss has a specific plan to put the duo on screen as terrorists!
Regular Performance times for The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity are 8:00 p.m. Thursday to Saturdays and at 3:00 p.m. on Sundays. Ticket cost range from $20 to $25.00
