Woods

18-19 at Lorain County Community College's Stocker Arts Center.

"3 Guys & Their Guitars" is a concert event featuring three established
solo musicians joining together on one stage. Each of these guitarists
has their own established and accomplished solo careers, and having them
join together for a concert event like this is reminiscent of the old
Windham Hill Concert Series. Multiple styles are explored, from New Age
to Classical, Jazz to world, and from Americana to pop music. "

The Artists:

Doug Wood

Since his days performing in the Boston subways in the early 1990s, Doug
has earned the status as one of the premier acoustic guitarists in the
country. His contemplative, melody-driven music can shift from a sweet
solo fingerstyle guitar piece to a composition looping energetic world
rhythms. Doug's music has been featured on numerous radio and TV
programs including "Echoes," "River City Folk" and "Late Night with
David Letterman." He connects well with his audience, whether it's
through his musicianship, tales of the road, or simply his wry sense of
humor. http://www.dougwoodmusic.com/

Darren Frate

Darren's innovative work on the bass is reminiscent of bass masters like
Jaco Pastorius and Michael Manring. Using foot pedals and looping, he's
able to create fully orchestrated melodic tunes live on stage. Nephew of
James Gang bassist Dale Peters, Darren has performed across the world
with various major groups. http://www.darrenfrate.com/

Patrick Woods

The contrapuntal elements of Patrick's music have long been loved and
revered by many fans of acoustic solo guitar. Ever since the age of 16,
the Indiana native has been playing every kind of gig imaginable. He
cites his main influences as Joe Satriani, Alex Lifeson (of Rush), and
Preston Reed. Being more influenced by Progressive rock than acoustic
music, Patrick has carved out his unique brand of up-tempo driving
acoustic instrumentals that are complex enough for advanced musicians,
but melodic enough for the simple music lover. His ambitious way of
communicating on a single instrument won him second place in Guitar
Player Magazine's 2006 GUITAR SUPERSTAR, in front of judges Joe Satriani
and Steve Lukather. He has also played in other contests such as the
National Winfield Competition, the Canadian Guitar Fest, and has been a
semi-finalist in the Yamaha Six String Theory Competition.
