AUDITION NOTICE
for the short film
OASIS

SAT. APRIL 26TH 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
CLEVELAND PUBLIC LIBRARY – JEFFERSON BRANCH
Meeting Room Located Straight Ahead From The Front Entrance
850 Jefferson Avenue, Ohio 44113

Olena, a Ukrainian immigrant and single mother, has developed a close bond
with an elderly man, Leon, who she cares for in his home. On the day we
meet them, Leon has asked Olena to help him end his life.

OLENA  FEMALE  LATE 20s/30s
Olena is a Ukrainian immigrant and single mother. She is also nurse's aid
for an elderly man named Leon and the two have developed a very close
friendship. She is very kind and giving, but her time is spent taking care
of others over herself. Olena has been living in the United States for 7
years and speaks fluent English, but there is evidence of a Ukrainian
accent.

LEON  MALE  70s/80s
Leon, a former engineer, is in the late stages of a progressive illness. He
has made a rich life for himself, but lives alone in a large house after
the death of his wife. Of the nursing staff who visit him regularly, he has
developed the closest friendship with the aide, Olena. She is the closest
to family he has around, as his children have their own lives elsewhere.

If you feel you may be suited for the part, even if you are a non-actor, we
are still interested in considering you.
OASIS is scheduled to shoot in mid-to-late May in the greater Dayton area.
Auditions will be held by appointment, and sides will be provided by email.
A monologue is not required. If possible, please bring a headshot and
résumé.
