On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. at The Baseball Heritage Museum come
join us for an exclusive fundraising event: YOU CAN’T PLAY BALL IN A SKIRT!
This first-person character program tells the story of Alta Weiss who put
herself through medical school by playing professional baseball on a MEN’S
team in the early 1900’s.  Sponsored by Women Making Moves and Eden Valley
Enterprises, the performance will take place at 1 p.m. at Cleveland’s
Baseball Heritage Museum inside the 5th Street Arcades at 530 Euclid Avenue,
Cleveland, Ohio 44115.  Light refreshments will be served at the event.

 

Anne McEvoy is Dr. Alta Weiss!  Anne is a long-time fan of discovering the
hidden stories of history's remarkable women and Alta Weiss is definitely a
fascinating female!  Alta started her baseball career in Vermilion, Ohio
when she was 17 years old and by the time she retired some 15 seasons later
she had outlasted most of the male players and managers AND she was now a
doctor!  If you saw Anne as Grandma Gatewood last August or as Victoria
Woodhull in March — you KNOW this will be a special performance!

All proceeds will benefit the activities of Women Making Moves (The
leading professional networking resource for today’s businesswoman ) and
Eden Valley Enterprises (Northeast Ohio's leading presenter of historical
programming).  Women Making Moves has joined Eden Valley as a partner in
creating a PBS Documentary about Ohioan Emma Gatewood -- the first woman to
solo thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 1955 at the age of 67!
