[NEohioPAL] NOTICE – Auditions for 'Just Go With It' - A new Akron-based Improv Group

NOTICE – Auditions for ‘JUST GO WITH
IT,’ a new Akron Improv Group - ACTORS, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, or anyone looking
to have fun!


(In conjunction with Rubber City Theater Company (http://www.rubbercitytheater.com/contact.html) JUST GO WITH IT is seeking 7-9 ARTISTS
(actors, painters, singers, whatever!) who can commit to rehearsals and
performances for an ongoing, improvised performance project.  Rehearsals
would run one day a week for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.  Final rehearsal schedules
will be determined once players have been selected and accommodations for their
schedules are made. 

When: Tuesday May 6th at 7:00
pm 

Where: Summit Arts Space in Akron (140 E
Market St, Akron, OH 44308)

What: We don’t require resumes or
headshots, but feel free to bring them if you’d like. We only require that
you wear something comfortable, be prepared to move, and BE PRESENT AND
HAVE FUN! The audition process will include a variety of improv games
and activities to see how you work with each other. 



Who: Actors, Singers, Musicians,
Dancers, Visual Artists are all encouraged and welcomed to audition within
their disciplines with prepared work, but also be prepared to improvise as
well. All ages, genders, and ethnic backgrounds are welcome.

THE AUDITION TIME but are interested in joining the group, please let us know
and we will try to accommodate. 


Co-founding members and directors: Matt Dolan, Marissa Leonino Lange, and Dean Coutris. 


Matthew Dolan has
been an active improviser in northeast Ohio for the past 10 years.  He has appeared as a cast member with the
Point of No Return Players, Title TBD!: an Improvised Musical, and Something
Dada, Cleveland's longest running improvisational comedy company.  Matthew also holds a Master's Degree in
Choral Conducting from the University of Akron and has appeared as a Music
Director and arts educator in may area theaters including The University of
Akron Theater Department and Theater Guild, The Hudson Players, and The Beck
Center for the Arts.
Marissa Leonino Lange was a 
founding member and director of the improvisational theater troupe 
Sunshine Scouts at Oberlin College.  She was also the chairperson for 
the first Oberlin College Improv Conference, now in its 14th year.  

In Chicago, Marissa studied improvisational theater at Improv Olympic 
and performed as a member of Uncle Elaine, an experimental longform 
improv group. Marissa also served as a director’s assistant at the 
Chicago Improv Festival and the Funny Women Fest.

In Washington, DC, Marissa performed at the Washington Improv Theater 
with the experimental longform improv group Jackie and the Neutrino 
Video Project.  She also assisted with classes at the WIT Conservatory 
Program and WIT U.  Marissa also performed in Eckhart, a two-person 
longform improv show. 

Here in Cleveland, she performed as a cast member in Title TBD! 
Improvised Musicals. 

Marissa also auditioned for television shows, commercials and film in 
Los Angeles.

Also a musician, Marissa is a member of Singers Companye, a professional
 choir that has performed Italy, Spain, and at the National Gallery of 
Art in Washington, DC.  She is the alto soloist for First Congregational
 Church in Akron, OH. 

In other lives, Marissa has experience teaching music, fashion design, 
standardized test preparation, and English as an au pair in Italy.

 

Dean Coutris has performed at Actor’s Summit Theater in Akron, and at
the University of Akron in various mainstage productions. Dean has also done
community theatre with The Player’s Guild Theatre in Canton and The North
Canton Playhouse. He has taken numerous theatre and acting courses at the
University of Akron and improv training courses at Weathervane Theatre in
Akron. This summer, Dean will be performing with the Ohio Shakespeare Company
and will be taking courses in the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique
Certification Program. 

 

Mission Statement:
Just Go With It is a fun, relaxed, and energized improvisational collaborative aimed
at providing opportunities for local performing artists to improve their craft
through improvisational techniques. We view ourselves as an experimental group
and one that engages with the local community and community artists of all
