*22nd Anniversary Art Song Festival at Baldwin Wallace University*



The Art Song Festival returns to Baldwin Wallace University May 19- 24 with
a range of recitals and Master Classes in the Kulas Musical Arts Building,
96 Front Street in Berea.



BW’s Art Song Festival is a week-long event that focuses on the unique
relationship between singer and pianist in the performance of art song
repertoire. Begun in 1985 by Artistic Director George Vassos, the Art Song
Festival, now in its 22nd Anniversary Season, brings international concert
artists and stars of the operatic stage to northeast Ohio to provide the
public with the opportunity to hear world-renowned artists in recital and
master classes.



Ten pre-professional singer/pianist teams chosen through national auditions
will come to Berea for a week of intensive coaching in performance of this
extraordinarily rewarding repertoire. The four guest artists offer master
classes and recitals throughout the week, culminating in a recital by the
ten teams on the final night of the Festival.



*Three public recitals are scheduled:*
*Tuesday, May 20, 8 p.m. Gamble Auditorium*
*A recital by British Soprano Joan Rodgers and pianist Roger Vignoles*
*Featuring works by Schubert, Marx, Rachmaninov, Balakirev and Tchaikovsky*

*Thursday, May 22, 8 p.m., Gamble Auditorium*
*A Recital by American baritone Andrew Garland and pianist Warren Jones*
*Featuring works by Vaughan Williams, Schubert, Frank, Ravel, and
Kohn* *Saturday,
May 24, 7:30 p.m., Gamble Auditorium*
*A Recital featuring the ten singer/pianist teams chosen from national
auditions*

*FREE Guest Lecture:* Pierre van der Westhuizen, Executive Director,
Cleveland International Piano Competition will be lecturing on Thursday,
May 22 at 3 p.m.
