                                                                          WESTERN RESERVE PLAYHOUSE
ANNOUNCES ITS 58TH SEASON
The comedy MOONLIGHT AND
MAGNOLIAS is scheduled to open the 58th season and run on June
6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21.   1939 Hollywood
is abuzz.  Legendary producer David O. Selznick
(played by Ed Conrad) has shut down production on his new epic Gone With TheWind, a film adaptation of Margaret
Mitchell’s novel.
While fending off gossip columnists and his own father-in-law, Selznick  sends for screenwriter Ben Hecht
(Dan Williams) and pulls director Victor Flemming (Al Klesh) from
the set of The Wizard of Oz.   Summoning
both to his office, he locks the doors, closes the shades and on a diet
of bananas and peanuts fed to them by his secretary
(Pat Hudson), the three men labor over five days to fashion a screenplay that
will become a blueprint for one of the most successful and beloved films of all
time.   Playwright Ron Hutchinson and director Jim
Volkert turn this storyline into a slapstick comedy, and a blazing critique of Hollywood.
While Ed Conrad is new to
the WRP stage Dan William and Al Klesh have been seen in
several productions. Pat Hudson also has been in several WRP productions and
co-directed Don’t Hug Me a few season ago.  Director Jim Volkert once again brings an audience winning show to our
stage.
WRP’S YOUTH THEATRICAL
CLASSES FOR STUDENTS FROM AGES 7 TO 17 RUNS JUNE 9 TO JUNE 28TH ENDING IN TWO PERFORMANCES ON JUNE 27TH AND 28TH AT 7:30PM.  DIRECTORS ARE JIM VOLKERT AND
KELLY E. CLARK.
Our musical this season is
SHOUT! THE MOD MUSICAL ( Book by Phillip George and David Lowenstein with
Lyrics and Music by various Composers) being performed on July 18, 19, 25, 26,
and August 1, 2, 8 and 9th and directed by Marc C. Howard.  It’s a Broadway musical featuring the songs
of the swinging sixties featuring the music of Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield,
Cilla Black and Shirley Bassey.
The final show of the season
will be the mystery MAURITIUS by Theresa Rebeck on September 12, 13, 19, 20, 26
and 27.  Alex Nine returns to direct this
gripping tale about high stake stamp collectors who are willing to do anything
to claim the rare finds of the world for their own.  Call:   330-620-7314 for more information.
