Hudson’s Restaurant on the Green, which is also available for season or
individual show purchase.

The 70th Season will begin after the anniversary concert with *Unnecessary
Farce*, a contemporary American farce by Paul Slade Smith being presented
November 7, 8, 15, 16, 22 & 23, 2014.(with auditions Sept. 7 & 8) This
award winning comedy is a fast paced farce in the tradition of *Lend Me A
Tenor* (but contemporary) and *Noises Off* (but American). The action takes
place in an economy motel room, where an embezzling mayor is supposed to
meet with his female accountant, while in the room next-door, two
undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there's some
confusion as to who's occupying which room, who's being videotaped, who's
taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking
off her clothes. Throw in a Scottish gangster with some bagpipes and some
slamming doors and the comedy is non-stop. In other words: Two cops, three
crooks, eight doors….go.

"Can a playwright re-invent the comic shtick of in-one-door, innuendo,
out-the-other-door?" asked Lansing's *City Pulse,* in its review of the
world premiere. "In the case of *Unnecessary Farce*, the answer is yes.
Smith’s play is dazzlingly funny, with one bit overlapping the next. A
comic farce to be reckoned with."

Following will be a production of one the of the most performed shows in
America, *Seussical*, a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza to be
presented February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 22, 27 & 28, 2015 (with auditions
Nov. 9 & 10). Written by Lynn Ahrens, with Music by Stephen Flaherty (the
same duo who brought us last years popular *Lucky Stiff*), and co-conceived
by Eric Idle (who brought us last years smash hit *Spamalot*), *Suessical*
is a fresh, unique, off beat, fun musical that brings to life all of our
favorite Dr. Seuss characters with a story that appeals to all, along with
infectious, fun music. All your favorites are there, including Horton the
Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and a little
boy with a big imagination--Jojo. The colorful musical tells the story of
Horton, an elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos,
including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too
many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge--not only must he protect
the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an
abandoned egg. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and
community are challenged and emerge triumphant. With infectious music and a
fun, fast moving story, the show promises a good time for all including
adults, kids, kids at heart and anyone who has ever read a Dr. Suess book.

Finally the Hudson Players 70th season will conclude with a production of
the new musical comedy fresh from Broadway and the touring circuit – *The
Addams Family*, running April 24, 25, May 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 15 & 16 of 2015
(with auditions Feb. 15 & 16). Based on the popular TV show, this
magnificently
macabre new musical comedy brings the weird and wonderful family to
devilishly, delightful life. Created by *Jersey Boys* authors *Marshall
Brickman* & *Rick Elice*, and Drama Desk Award winner *Andrew Lippa* (*The
Wild Party*), *The Addams Family *features that lovable family of creepy
kooks who are alive and well and living in their super-spooky mansion in
Central Park. Of course, the Addams family, led by the elegantly gaunt and
seemingly undead Morticia and her ever-devoted husband Gomez, is in
turmoil. Their daughter Wednesday, now 18, finds herself falling in love -
a sensation that is unsettling for both her and her family of endearing
misfits. When the teen invites her new boyfriend over with his “normal”
family to get better acquainted with the Addams household, comic chaos
(including everything from an amorous giant squid to mixed-up potions to a
scorching tango) ensues. Winner of Broadway.com audience choice award for
favorite new Broadway musical, *“**Come meet the family. We'll leave the
lights off for you”.*
