Project1voice,
a national non-profit organization whosemission is to strengthen and
promote African-American theatre and its playwrights. Since its
inception in 2010, 25 theatres and organizations across the country
have celebrated African-American playwrights by presenting one of
their plays on the third Monday in June. Here in Cleveland, we are
excited to present this choreopoem at Rainey Institute on Monday,
June 16th at 7:30 pm. 



The
reading will be directed by Dale
Shields, who has produced and directed previous Project1Voice
plays in Cleveland (Trouble In Mind, The Amen Corner, and A Soldier's
Play) to full houses.  We have an extraordinary cast this year
with talent ranging from Broadway and regional actresses to amazing
ingenues who will give Cleveland a powerful performance of this
provocative and profound piece of theatre. The cast features
Mariama Whyte, Nina Domingue Glover, Kimberly Brown, Maha McCain,
Sabrina McPherson, Pia Long and Benita Rahman. 
Following
the performance, we will have a talk back with the cast along with a
dynamic panel of women including Dianne McIntyre (renowned
choreographer/dancer), Heather E. Burton, PhD
(author/speaker/educator), Donna M.
Whyte,
PhD
(African-American history lecturer), and LaToyia Jones (Founder of I
Am Alive on Purpose).
