It will all happen live at the Players Guild Theatre.

Be prepared to be amazed, entertained and mystified as the Players Guild
Theatre proudly presents THEATRE OF MAGIC, a mind-bending magic and
illusion show starring Angela Funovits and Joshua Erichsen.

*About the performers:*

A native of Avon Lake, Ohio, *Angela Funovits* made her television debut in
2007 when she was invited to perform on the NBC primetime program,
PHENOMENON, a search for the world’s greatest mentalist with Criss Angel
and Uri Geller.  After several months of live competition on PHENOMENON,
Angela was awarded second place by American public vote and went on to
perform for television specials in Germany, Japan, France, South Korea and
Canada, while touring her live show throughout North America.  Currently,
Angela is starring in the new SYFY reality series, WIZARD WARS, alongside
magic legends Penn and Teller.

Outside of being a world-renowned performer and entertainer, Angela earned
her medical degree in 2013 and is excited to become a dedicated and caring
clinician as well as an innovative medical educator.  Additionally, Angela
has worked simultaneously on coordinating outreach events as President of
The Magic of Medicine, an organization that she founded in an effort to
give back using the art of magic.  With The Magic of Medicine, she
organized a number of magic workshops for families touched by cancer, and
also produced a series of live theatre shows in conjunction with the
Players Guild Theatre to benefit the American Cancer Society.

*Joshua Erichsen* is best known for his role as Producing Artistic Director
of the Players Guild Theatre, so people are often surprised to find out
that Josh is also a practicing magician and escape artist.  Josh first
became interested in magic when he witnessed David Copperfield mysteriously
vanish the Statue of Liberty and has since been practicing and performing
magic for anyone willing to watch, including his grade school classmates,
(which quickly earned him the nickname, “Mr. Wizard”).  Josh’s continued
fascination with prestidigitation continued throughout college and shortly
after graduating from Kent State University, he began working at the
Players Guild where he was invited to present his magic show on the Guild
stage.  Titled ESCAPE, and billed as a show without “rabbits, top hats or
linking rings,” Josh presented a full evening performance of illusions and
sleight of hand, and for the finale, escaped from a straight jacket while
hanging high above the stage from a rope that was set on fire.  Following
ESCAPE, Josh returned to the PG stage in 2004 with a new magic show titled
THE IMPOSSIBLE, which featured the music of local favorite Jason Farnham.  In
the years since, Josh has performed throughout Ohio and was fortunate to
have the chance to play the role of Harry Houdini in the Guild’s production
of RAGTIME THE MUSICAL, perhaps pulling off his greatest feat yet, fooling
people into thinking that he could sing!  .

True to its title, THEATRE OF MAGIC will feature unbelievable acts of
mentalism, sleight of hand, illusion and daring escapes.

*Show highlights include:*

*OVER THE SPEED LIMIT *A startling appearance that will leave the audience
members scratching their heads in disbelief!

*50/50 ROULETTE *Angela will test the telepathic skills, (as well as the
nerves), of an audience member as she plays a daring game of roulette with
razor sharp broken bottles.

*RING FLIGHT REVOLUTION* A borrowed ring from a spectator vanishes and ends
up in one of the most unlikely of places.

*PAINTBALL CATCH* As the title implies, Angela will catch a signed
paintball fired at her by an audience member… but to make it a little more
interesting, she will catch it in her teeth!

*MELTING THROUGH METAL* Josh will attempt to escape from a jail-like cell,
but instead of just escaping, will attempt to melt through the solid metal
bars.

*THE PREDICTION* A startling brain buster featuring randomly selected
audience members and their imaginations.  It can only be seen to be
believed.

*THE ESCAPE* A death-defying escape from a straight jacket while hanging
high above the stage from a burning rope – yes, you read that correctly!

THEATRE OF MAGIC is an adrenaline pumping event sure to leave audiences
spellbound.  Tickets are on sale now, but are disappearing fast!

THEATRE OF MAGIC is scheduled to open on June 20 and runs through June 28
with performances Fridays at 8:00 pm and Saturdays at 2:00 and 8:00 pm.
Tickets for this Mainstage show are $20 for adults and $15 for those 17 and
younger. Tickets for all performances may be purchased online 24 hours a
day at www.playersguildtheatre.com or in person at the Players Guild Box
Office, located in the Great Court of the Cultural Center for the Arts,
