WESTERN RESERVE PLAYHOUSE OPENED THE SEASON WITH MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS

The comedy MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS Opened  on June 6th to a full house that roared with delight and some vowed to come back for more only this time with family and  friends.  The show continues on June 13, 14, 20 and 21st, don't miss your chance to see this comedy about the writing of Gone With The Wind.
It's1939 and  Hollywood is abuzz.  Legendary producer David O. Selznick (played by Ed Conrad) has shut down production on his new epic Gone With TheWind, a film adaptation of Margaret Mitchell’s novel.  The screenplay, you see, just isn’t working.   So what’s an all-powerful movie mogul to do?
While fending off the film’s stars, gossip columnists and his own father-in-law, Selznick  sends a car for famed screenwriter Ben Hecht (Dan Williams) and pulls formidable director Victor Flemming (Al Klesh) from the set of The Wizard of Oz.   Summoning both to his office, he locks the doors, closes the shades and on a steady diet of bananas and peanuts fed to them by the loyal and the ever present secretary (Pat Robertell Hudson), the three men labor over five days to fashion a screenplay that will become a blueprint for one of the most successful and beloved films of all time.
Playwright Ron Hutchinson and director Jim Volkert turn this storyline into a hyperventilating slapstick comedy, an impassioned love song and a blazing critique of Hollywood.  Producers for WRP are  Board Members Sue Snyder and Marty Hess.
While Ed Conrad is new to the WRP stage Dan William and Al Klesh are Board Members and have been in several productions.  Pat Robertell-Hudson also has been in several WRP productions and co-directed Don’t Hug Me a few season ago.  Director Jim Volkert once again brings an audience winning show to our stage.  NOTE:  Peanuts are extensively used onstage, so if you have a peanut allergy   this may not be the show for you.
