On Monday, June 16, Beck Center for the Arts’ Theater Department kicks off the summer session with two of our five incredible Summer Theater Camps!

We still have a few spots available – but they are going fast!  So if you have been meaning to sign up, make sure you do so before it all starts and you miss out! NOTE: New camps start every three weeks.

Summer is here! There’s no denying it.  Now don’t you want to do something fun with it?


Junior Theater Camp Ages 7 to 12
Monday-Friday; 3 weeks per session; select from the dates below; Tuition: $255 per session

Session 1: June 16 - July 3       from 12:30 to 2:30 pm*
Performances: July 3 at 2:30 & 6:30 pm

Session 2: July 28 - August 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 am*
Performances: August 15 at 11:30 am & 6:00 pm

The Junior Theater Camp is designed for all students, whether or not they have prior performance experience. Campers work with theater professionals learning about acting, singing, and dancing as they rehearse for their own original show. This fun performance is a culmination of their work and features acting scenes and musical numbers. Actors present this show for family and friends on the last day of camp in the Music & Dance Building Recital Hall. Information concerning performances and tickets is distributed the first day of camp. Students are required to participate in both performances. Tuition does not include admission to performances. Tickets to performances are $5 each.

*Lunch-time supervision is provided for students enrolling in both the Junior Theater and Visual Arts Camps.

Improv Camp: Beck Improv Showcase Ages 13 to 19
Presented in collaboration with “Something Dada” Cleveland’s Premiere Improvisation Comedy Company
June 16-27; Monday-Friday; 2 weeks; 5:30 to 8:30 pm; Tuition: $195
Performances on June 27 & 28 at 7:30 pm

Headed by a founding member of Something Dada, Russ Stich, this camp is great for both new students of improv as well as veteran performers. Students explore the basic concepts of improvisational theater with an emphasis on the theatrical and audience-interactive aspects. This two-week workshop focuses on creating a completely improvised performance based on suggestions from a live audience. It’s a guaranteed comedy blast! Tuition does not include admission to performances. Tickets to performances are $5 each.

Acting Camp: Stepping Into the Spotlight Ages 13 to 19
July 7-25; Monday-Friday; 3 weeks; 12 to 4 pm; Tuition: $355;
Performances on July 25 & 26 at 7:30 pm

This intensive theater camp, headed by Russ Stich, is for students who are dedicated to developing their performance skills with experienced professionals. Focusing primarily on the comedic, students work together as an ensemble to bring to life a production that is sure to entertain the audience as participants sharpen their stage skills. This summer’s production will be CRAZYTOWN by Jonathan Rand. Come join us and laugh as you learn! Tuition does not include admission to performances. Tickets to performances are $5 each.

Musical Theater Camp: The Best of Broadway Ages 13 to 19
July 28-August 15; Monday-Friday; 3 weeks; 12 to 4 pm; Tuition: $355;
Performances on August 15 & 16 at 7:30 pm

This musical theater camp is for students who are serious and passionate about performing musical theater. Participants work with a director, musical director and choreographer as a dedicated team to pull together an original musical revue: The Best of Broadway. Songs and material are selected specifically for the students involved, creating a totally unique experience. If you love musicals, you’ll love this camp. Tuition does not include admission to performances. Tickets to performances are $5 each.

Placement Auditions: Thursday, July 24, 3:30 to 5 pm
Participants of the Musical Theater Camp are encouraged to come to a preliminary audition so that we may determine appropriate material for the performance. Students are asked to prepare a short musical theater song that demonstrates their abilities.  This is not mandatory for participation.
