Music in Improv!

Music is an essential tool for the improvisational performer.  Not only
does music enhance the scene as it's being created, it also blazes new
pathways to be explored by the actors within these scenes.

The first class in this series will prepare the student to begin:
- understanding pace and meter of music
- feeling comfortable rhyming with other performers
- learning to trust instincts when making choices
- understanding different styles of music
- working with music in improvised scene work

Requirements:
Prior improvisational comedy training and or performance is required.  No
musical background is needed.

Instructor: Mike Bloom
Mike Bloom has dabbled in musical improvisation for more than 25 years,
serving as Musical Director for The Second City Northwest, the Second City
National Touring Company, and Giant Portions Improvisational Comedy Company
(Cleveland); as well as accompanist for the Annoyance Theater (Coed Prison
Sluts, Screw Puppies, Abe Lincoln Sex Alien) Second City Mainstage (Piñata
full of Bees) and IO Theater in Chicago. His non-musical roles have
included working as a Writer for Second City Communications and Producer
for The Second City Cleveland.
