AUDITION PREPARATION
Karamu is seeking African American and Caucasian   actors/singers/dancers,  Actors/Singers must prepare 2 songs, one Blues, and one Spiritual. Singers must also be prepared to sing acappella. An accompanist     will    be     provided.    All   Actors/Singers    will     be     asked    to    do    a    cold    reading   from    the     script. Please come prepared for light movement.
All who are auditioning must bring a Headshot and Resume’.

ABOUT THE PLAY
The Revue traces the history of the blues with more than 3 dozen songs. It ain’t Nothin but
the Blues started as a Denver Center Theatre Company school touring show in circa 1994.
The denver Center Production played at the Arena Stage in Washington D.C. in November
of 1996.  It subsequently opened at the New Victory Theatre in New york in 1999. 
It was then transferred to Broadway, where it recieved a Tony nomination  for “Best Musical”.

One African American female Vocalist/Actor (Alto range) Age Range: 18 - above
One African American female Vocalist/Actor (Soprano range) Age Range: 18 - above
One African American female Vocalist/Actor (Alto range) Age Range: 18 - above
One Caucasian female Vocalist/Actor 	(Alto range) Age Range: 18 - above

***Three African American male Vocalist/Actor  (High Tenor, Tenor, Baritone)
												Age Range: 18 - above

***One of the above African American males must be a multi-acoustic instrumentalist on two or more of the following instruments: slide guitar, harmonica, banjo, fiddle and mandolin.

***One Caucasian male Vocalist/Actor  (Tenor or Alto) Age Range: 18 - above

***The above Caucasian male must be a multi-acoustic instrumentalist on two or more of the
following instruments: slide guitar, harmonica, banjo, fiddle and mandolin.

Two male DancersAge Range: 18 - 30
Two  female DancersAge Range: 18 - 30


REHEARSALS
Consists of a 8 week rehearsal schedule, 3-6 time per week. The cast will receive a Rehearsal schedule by the first cast meeting or first rehearsal.
