Yeah, it’s totally like the Adam Sandler-Drew Barrymore film. But not. PSYCH! Mercury Summer Stock takes you back to 1985 when hair was big, greed was good collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.

The Wedding Singer, with music by Matthew Sklar, and based on the book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, plays Notre Dame College’s Regina Hall now through August 16. As part of Mercury Summer Stock’s MERCURY AT THE MOVIES season, The Wedding Singer takes the popular Adam Sandler comedy and mixes it with an original pop score inspired by the 1980’s giants of music, including including Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Boy George and Spandau Ballet.

In The Wedding Singer, it’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

MSS Artistic Director Pierre-Jacques Brault directs and choreographs a cast of 30 big-haired, big-mouthed comedians in this laugh-out-loud riot. The wedding Singer plays in Notre Dame College’s Regina Hall August 1-16. All seats under $20!

Single Tickets and Groups (of 8 or more) are available by calling 216.771.5862, or visiting: www.mercurysummerstock.com.
