Rare Vintage Fight Footage Illustrates Kilbane’s Career as a  boxer 
Johnny Kilbane: World  Featherweight Champion 1912-1923”  
Presented in collaboration with the Cleveland Public  Library 
Boxing historian Jerry Fitch (Cleveland's Greatest  Fighters of All Time) 
and Johnny Kilbane's  great-grandson Kevin O'Toole team up to present an 
overview of the fighting  career of Cleveland boxer Johnny Kilbane, world 
featherweight champion from  1912-1923.  Their presentation will feature vintage 
film footage from  Kilbane's first title fight in 1912 and his 1921 League 
Park victory over Danny  Frush, including footage from the Kilbane family 
collection that has just been  restored and never been shown publicly before!  
The  program will be repeated twice, first at the Main Branch of the 
Cleveland Public  Library and again in Bridgie Neds Room in the basement of P.J. 
McIntyre’s Irish  Pub.  Both events are free and open to the  public.

These  lectures are sponsored by the Irish American Archives  Society, a  
non-profit organization that seeks to preserve and present information about 
the  history of the Irish in Cleveland.  The Irish American Archives Society 
is  spearheading the Johnny Kilbane Sculpture Project; a sculpture 
commemorating  Johnny Kilbane, by internationally known, Dublin-based artist Rowan 
Gillespie,  will be dedicated on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at noon in 
Battery Park in  Cleveland's West Side (West 74th and Fr. Frascati Blvd.).  
Programming  illuminating "Johnny Kilbane's Cleveland" is funded in part by the 
citizens  of Cuyahoga County through a grant from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.  
Other  upcoming events include the screening of a documentary about Johnny 
Kilbane at  the West Side Irish American Club (8559 Jennings Road, Olmsted 
Falls OH 44139)  on September 11, 7 pm.  For further information see
