PALACE THEATRE ANNOUNCES FALL/WINTER 2014 SPECIAL MOVIE EVENTS

All movies will be featured in HD Digital Cinema on Canton's largest
Movie Screen

 

Canton, Ohio, August 28, 2014. The Canton Palace Theatre announces its
Fall/Winter 2014 special movie events.  All movies will be featured in
HD Digital Cinema with advance tickets sales starting Tuesday, September
2, 2014 at 10am.  Tickets can purchased at www.cantonpalacetheatre.org

thru Friday 10am to 4pm.

September 6:   West Side Story           Doors Open: 7:00pm
Movie Begins: 7:30pm             Admission: $5

A love affair is fated for tragedy amidst the vicious rivalry of two
street gangs the Jets and the Sharks. When Jets member Tony (Richard
Beymer) falls for Maria (Natalie Wood), the sister of the Sharks leader,
it's more than these two warring gangs can handle. And as mounting
tensions rise, a battle to the death ensues, and innocent blood is shed
in a heartbreaking finale.

 

September 20: The Godfather              Doors Open: 7:00pm
Movie Begins: 7:30pm             Admission: $5 

Director Francis Ford Coppola paints a chilling portrait of the Sicilian
clan's rise and near fall from power in America, masterfully balancing
the story between the Corleone's family life and the ugly crime business
in which they are engaged. 

 

September 28:  The Sound of Music     Doors Open: 1:30pm
Movie Begins: 2:00pm             Admission: $5

Rodgers & Hammerstein's cinematic treasure, "The Sound of Music" is the
winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. In this true-life
story, Julie Andrews lights up the screen as Maria, a spirited young
Austrian woman who leaves the convent to become a governess for Captain
von Trapp's (Christopher Plummer) seven unruly children. Her charm and
songs soon win the hearts of the children - and their father. But when
Nazi Germany unites with Austria, Maria is forced to attempt a daring
escape with her new family.

 

October 25:      Silent Movie Special: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Doors Open: 6:30pm            Movie Begins: 7:30pm Admission: $10

The annual "Silent Screamfest" tradition continues with our featured,
spooky silent film accompanied by Palace organist, Jay Spencer.  The
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is about Francis and Alan, who visit a carnival
where the amazing Dr. Caligari is displaying a somnambulist able to
answer any question. When Alan asks him when he'll die, the man replies
something no one wants to hear.

 

October 31:      Rocky Horror Picture Show                 Doors Open:
6:30pm                Costume Contest: 7:00pm           Movie Begins:
7:30pm             Admission: $7                         Prop Bags: $8

A Canton Palace Theatre Tradition! Complete with costume contest and
prop bags for a fully interactive audience experience.   Rocky Horror
Picture Show is about a newly engaged couple that have a breakdown in an
isolated area and must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr.
Frank-N-Furter.

 

November 8:    Three Stooges Film Festival    Doors Open: 6:30pm
Movie Begins: 7:30pm             Admission: $6

A collection of four original Three Stooges film shorts shown with the
Curly Shuffle competition during intermission!

 

November 28:  A Christmas Story                   Doors Open: 6:30pm
Movie Begins: 7:30pm             Admission: $5

Ralphie has to convince his parents, his teacher, and Santa that a Red
Ryder B.B. gun really is the perfect gift for the 1940s.

 

December 5:    Polar Express              Doors Open: 6:30pm    Movie
Begins: 7:30pm             Admission: FREE

This is the story of a young boy on Christmas Eve who boards a magical
train that's headed to the North Pole. During this ride, he embarks on a
journey of self-discovery which shows him that the wonder of life never
fades for those who believe. This presentation is presented by PNC Bank
as part of the Canton Palace Theatre's First Friday Family Movie Series.

 

December 19:   National Lampoon Christmas Vacation            Doors
Open: 7:00pm                Movie Begins: 7:30pm Admission: $5

The Griswold family's plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn
into a big disaster.

 

December 20:   It's a Wonderful Life                Doors Open: 7:00pm
Movie Begins: 7:30pm                         Admission: $5

An angel helps a compassionate but despairingly frustrated businessman
by showing what life would have been like if he never existed.

 

December 21:   Elf                                Doors Open: 7:00pm
Movie Begins: 7:30pm                         Admission: $5

After inadvertently wreaking havoc on the elf community due to his
ungainly size, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole is sent to the
U.S. in search of his true identity.
