          The Salzedo Harp Duo, Nancy Lendrim and Jody Guinn, performs at
the

 Church of the Saviour in Cleveland Heights on Sunday, September 28 at 2
p.m.

  This free concert is sponsored by Arts in the Cathedral as the
organization begins

its 19th season.

          Shortly after forming the Salzedo Harp Duo they were awarded a
Mellon

 Foundation grant to research and prepare Salzedo’s little-known duo harp
reper-

toire for performance. They performed at the 8th World Harp Congress in
Geneva,

 Switzerland and the 10th World Harp Congress in Amsterdam.

       The repertoire of the duo has since expanded to include works of
other 20th

 century French composers as well as a number of contemporary compositions,

including both transcriptions and works specifically composed for harp duo, and


they have presented concerts and master classes across the United States.

The Salzedo Harp Duo released its first CD, *Short Stories: A Collection of
*

*Music for Two Harps* in June of 2004, and its second disc, *Simple Gifts*,
in

June of 2008, both on the Azica label. A review of their premiere recording
said:

*They sound as if they've been playing together for years, their sense of
ensemble, interplay and balance reaching near-telepathic proportions...it
is downright miraculous.*

       In addition to their work together in the duo, both Lendrim and
Guinn hold

principal harp positions with the Toledo and Akron Symphony respectively
and

they have each performed with The Cleveland Orchestra and The Philadelphia
Or-

chestra. Both are on the faculty of several Universities and retain active
rosters of

private students, passing on the Salzedo tradition to a new generation.



Church of the Saviour is located at 2537 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, one
block

 north of Fairmount Blvd. The church has free parking and is handicapped-

accessible.
