South Euclid UCC seeking paid Bass Section Leader

The Chancel Choir of South Euclid UCC will be holding auditions for a paid Bass Section Leader/Soloist position at our current worship facility at 4217 Bluestone Road, South Euclid, OH.

The Bass Section Leader is employed for the full choir season (September-May), with the remaining summer months off. The position is one year long and open to renewal on an annual basis. For 2014, the choir season will begin mid-August. Rehearsals are 6 PM on Wednesday evenings, with a short rehearsal at 9 AM on Sunday mornings. Vacation time is very flexible as long as an adequate substitute is provided. Soloists are paid for each rehearsal and service; pay is $42.50 per rehearsal and service for a total of $85 per/week.

Auditions include two prepared sacred solos (one in a foreign language, if possible), extensive sight reading and discussion. An accompanist will be provided and auditions last about ½ hour.

Requirements

Applicants should possess excellent sight-reading skills, musicianship and a servant-leadership mentality.

The EACC Chancel Choir is a 15-20-voice auditioned choir that sings excellent choral literature ranging many centuries. An expression of our faith, our song is a gift from and offering to God. The choir also collaborates regularly with musicians from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Leaders generally serve as soloists in these collaborations and occasionally sing as an ensemble.

To schedule an audition, contact Alcee Chriss III, Minister of Music Music at eacc-ucc.org or via phone (682) 551- 7152. The audition schedule is flexible but should take place before October 5th, 2014.
