*The Pillowman* is a play by acclaimed writer Martin McDonagh, and it
delves deeply into disturbing dreams that may or may not be based in
reality. This is one diabolical drama that will definitely keep you up at
night!


There is an air of mystery through the two-act play that is almost as
intense as the indelible images of children being murdered which fill the
pages of the stories. Director Geoffrey Hoffman balances the humor and the
horror expertly, and keeps audiences riveted to every word that comes out
the performers' mouths.


The acting company is uniformly excellent. Kondilas has the unassuming
manner of a man erroneously accused of a crime he did not commit, but as
details from his past slowly come to light, so to do subtle nuances emerge
in his portrayal. Hawkes and Hoffman make the perfect pair
of interrogators, hilariously trying to be-up each other as they fight to
figure out the truth. Daniel McElhaney gives an indelible performance as a
person of interest who is very close to Katurian, and Nicole McLaughlin
and Melissa Freilich effectively play other family members and characters
in the stories.


The top-notch technical elements include the versatile setting by Geoffrey
Hoffman and Clyde Simon, low-level lighting by Terri Wachala, intriguing
costumes by sade wolfkitten, focused fight choreography by Melissa
Freilich, and streamlined sound by Simon...
