Offer Tricks AND Treats in 
'Addams Family'



The musical -- featuring a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and musical and lyrics by Andrew Lippa -- paints an Addams Family portrait that is at times both nicer and naughtier than you may remember. Director Kristin Netzband does an excellent job of planting plenty of humor among the script's macabre minefield, and her hilarious choreography includes tangos, conga lines and even bunny hops. Music director Heidi Herczig helps the cast sing their way through the haunting yet hummable score.

The talented ensemble members bond together to truly form a family onstage. Lou Petrucci as Gomez is a warm and winning patriarch, and Rachel Anderson partners him perfectly in her seductively subdued portrayal of Morticia. Tia Karapalis is a whirlwind of energy and emotion as the strong-willed Wednesday, giving Gavin Gangi's wide-eyed suitor an eye-opening engagement.

Everyone in the cast tackles their roles with devilish glee, from Steve Brown's gregarious Uncle Fester and Kim Escut's outrageous Grandma Addams to Christian Thomas' torture-loving Pugsley and Daryl Kelley's zombified-to-perfection Lurch. Brian Altman and Maggie Stahl as the "normal" visitors each get a chance to reveal a different side of themselves, with both humorous and heartfelt results. The ever-present octet of ancient ancestors includes Kristina Barrett, Joel Furr, Stephanie Jordan, Evie Koh, Chris Meyers, Brandon Schumacker, Allison Yellets and Mason Zielinski...
