Lakeland Civic Theatre announces Auditions

for Violet on October 27, 28 and 29

*Audition Information: *

Auditions will be held on October 27, 28 and 29 between 7pm and 9pm at
Lakeland Community College in Building D. Please prepare16-32 bars of a
contemporary Broadway song in the style of the show, as well as 16-32 bars
of either a folk, country or gospel song. *YOU DO NOT NEED AN AUDITION
TIME. *JUST SHOW UP AND WE WILL HAVE YOU SING and then READ. We will have a
CALLBACK on Sunday, November 2 between 1pm and 3pm.

*ALL ROLES ARE COMPENSATED. *

I anticipate ONE (1) EQUITY contract for this show. EQUITY AUDITIONS will
take place between 7 and 7:30pm on October 27, 28 and 29.

 *The Play:*

*Violet,* will be produced in the original two act form. As a girl, Violet
was struck by an axe blade when her father was chopping wood, leaving her
with a visible scar across her face. With enough money finally saved, she’s
travelling across the 1964 Deep South towards a miracle- the healing touch
of a TV evangelist that will make her beautiful again

*Leroy/Earl:Male. 30-50 yrs. Range-B3-F5                          *

*Father: Male. 35-45 yrs. Range-A3-F5       *

*Flick: African-American Male. 20- 30 yrs. Range- C4-E6
               *

*Gospel Soloist:African-American Female. 30-70 yrs. Range-
F3-G5                  *

*Mabel:Female. 25-45 yrs. Range- A3-G5   *

*Monty: Male. 20-30 yrs. Range-A3-G5*

*Old Lady:Female. 55-65 yrs. Range-F3-E5   *

*Preacher:Male. 30-40 yrs. Range-B3-G5 *

*Violet: Female. 25-35 yrs. Range- G3-F5   *

*Young Violet: Female. 10- 13yrs. Range- A3-E5 *

*Virgil:Male. 20-30 yrs. Range-B3-B5         *

*Ensemble:Male/Female. Any Age and Ethnicity*

*NO ROLE IS PRE-CAST. All roles except Violet, Flick and Father play other
roles. *

*Production and Rehearsal Dates:*

*Violet* *will open on Friday, January 30 and run through February 15,
2015. There will be nine (9) performances. Rehearsals will begin the end of
November and will run on an occasional basis based upon your schedules. We
will begin rehearsals in earnest on January 2, 2015 and run Sunday’s thru
