Hudson Players Auditions Tonight for Seussical!
Great fun family show!

The Hudson Players will hold auditions tonight, November 10 at 7pm for the
musical Seussical, written by Lynn Ahrens, with Music by Stephen Flaherty,
and co-conceived by Eric Idle. The production will be directed by Rich
Jagunic. There are many feature parts for men and women of all ages.

Seussical is a fresh, unique, off beat, fun musical that brings to life
favorite characters from the whimsical imagination of Dr. Seuss, along with
infectious, fun music. Bursting with frivolity and imagination the colorful
characters transport the audience from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus
McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The colorful musical tells the
story of Horton, an elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos,
including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too
many "thinks". Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and
community are challenged and emerge triumphant. With infectious music and a
fun, fast moving story, the show promises a good time for all including
adults, kids, kids at heart and anyone who has ever read a Dr. Seuss book.

Auditions for Seussical will be Sunday and Monday, November 9 & 10.
Registration will begin at 7:00pm. All who audition should provide their own
sheet music; please NO a capella auditions. An accompanist will be provided.
Songs should be 16-24 bars in length.

There will be a movement audition as well, so comfortable clothing should be
worn. Shoes cannot be sandals, heels, slippers, or clogs. Readings from the
script will only be done at callbacks.

Seussical is not a children's theatre production, it is a family show. Its
appeal is to all ages, and its story is about loyalty, friendship, and love.
The music styles range from standard Broadway, to blues, swing, rock and
roll, and soul.

Seussical features a good number of leading and supporting roles, for males
and females of all ages. Ensemble members will be featured as jungle
creatures, sea creatures, Whos, military cadets, and circus members. Jungle
creatures are singing/dancing roles; Whos are singing roles (and 4-6
children are included to make up the Who families). Teens are needed for all
groups.

The play was written for 28 performers, with the ensemble doubling in all
groups; depending on auditions, doubling may or may not be required;
however, not everyone in the ensemble will automatically have a dancing
role.

The principal roles include...
