NICK CAVE VISITS KENT STATE

Renowned artist Nick Cave will give a free, public lecture on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Cartwright Hall auditorium (650 Hilltop Dr., Kent, Ohio). Seating is limited; to reserve a spot, call 330-672-2760. The event is part of the Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series.

An American fabric sculptor and performance artist, Nick Cave is best known for his "Soundsuits" -- wearable fabric sculptures that are bright and whimsical. He is also a trained dancer, and currently serves as graduate coordinator for the fashion design program at SAIC (the School of the Art Institute of Chicago).

Cave also has an exhibition -- "Encounter," consisting of three video installations -- currently on view at the School of Art Gallery in the Art Building (400 Janik Dr., Kent, Ohio). "Encounter" will run through Friday, Nov. 21, and is also free and open to the public.
