This dance is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. You will have had your fill of turkey and family. This is your big chance to get out, get away and cut loose! 

Let me tell you a little bit about Johnny. He was the front man for Indigo Swing. Indigo Swing played a HUGE part in the international revival of swing music and swing dancing in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Indigo Swing was one of the first new bands of that generation that inspired people to want to get up and dance. His last visit to Cleveland was around 2002 at the Odeon. The place was jam packed with old fans of jazz, new found fans of jazz, swing dancers, non-dancers, vintage enthusiasts, etc. The floor was packed all night long. It is definitely one of my fondest memories of swing dancing in Cleveland "back in the day". Come and see for yourself what the Johnny Boyd experience is like. Relive those good times from years ago. 

Johnny Boyd truly has the romanticism of a crooner and the boyish good looks of a classic, golden-era matinee idol, but it’s his highly distinctive, smooth as silk vocal style that truly defines him. Long-acclaimed as one of the most versatile vocal performers of today, singer-song writer Johnny Boyd seamlessly blends swing, Jazz, pop, country, gospel and rock, bringing back the nostalgic charisma of a bygone era, while taking risks with his arrangements that truly show confidence in his talent. 

With 20+ years experience, the former Indigo Swing frontman still doesn’t miss a beat. The highly prolific singer-songwriter and resident road dog, known for his extreme work ethic (300+ gigs a year in the U.S. and Europe), can still move an audience from smiles to tears, in one sitting. With over 1,100 consecutive live performances to Boyd’s credit, more than 100,000 records sold, and thousands of loyal and devoted fans worldwide, he is now gearing up for more. 

This will be an amazing night of swing music and swing dancing!

Be sure to arrive in time to take part in the easy jitterbug lesson from 8pm to 9pm. We always review the basic Jitterbug step, talk about the basics of leading and following, and then show a few new moves. Each lesson is unique and you will always pick up new moves and hints each time you attend a pre-dance lesson at a Get Hep Swing event. These lessons are appropriate for brand spankin new dancers all the way up to advanced dancers. You will not be disappointed! 

Immediately after the lesson (at 9 PM) Johnny Boyd and his new band will kick off an awesome night of music and swing dancing until 12am. 

Everyone is welcome to come and have fun with us at the swing dance. There is no need to have previous dance experience or a dance partner. We rotate partners during the lesson so you will have the chance to meet and dance with lots and lots of people before the live music even begins!

No need to make reservations or buy tickets in advance. The event is $12 per person. No need to RSVP. Just show up and have fun! We have lots and lots of room for you and all of your friends!

The Waterloo Ballroom at the Slovenian Workmen's Home is located in the very artsy and lively Collinwood neighborhood. The address is 15335 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, Ohio 44110.

The Slovenian not only has a beautiful ballroom; they also have a well stocked bar. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks of all kinds for sale--including a very special Slovenian beer- Lasko! There will also be some sweet and savory snacks for sale in the bar as well.

The sign for the Slovenian has been taken down so please look for the sign for Waterloo Brew. Our entrance is just to the left of them. 

There are TWO parking lots to the right of the ballroom and there is also some street parking as well. However, if you can carpool with friends that would be recommended. We also have a security guard who keeps an eye on the hall and both parking lots.
