*AUDITIONING FOR THE THEATRE - Getting Your Act TogetherMondays 6:30pm-8pm
- Ages 16 +*
Instructor : Constance Thackaberry


Do you go to audition after audition, but not get called back?  Do you have
a list of 30 or more plays on your resume?



Are you over 40 and still listing the year you graduated from college?  Are
you a young actor who still lists roles they played as a child?



Is your headshot more than 4 years old or 20 pounds ago?



Have you been doing your monologues for over 2 years/seasons?



Are you able to calmly listen and take direction in an audition situation
or do you get flustered and distracted?



*These are only some of the topics that will be addressed in this course.*



In this course, Connie Thackaberry, Senior Artistic Associate with Actors’
Summit and a professional theater director will guide you through updating
your resume, evaluating your headshot and tips for how to improve your next
one.  She will address choosing and preparing your monologue and cold
reading tips.  Proper audition attire and etiquette will be discussed.  There
will be a review of dos and don’ts for auditioning in for theater and
musical theater productions.  *This class is for the actor looking to take
their work to the next level.  *
Classes begin Monday, January 19th and run for 9 weeks.  Cost of course

Connie Thackaberry is a founding member and the Senior Artistic Associate
at Actors’ Summit where she enjoys directing, casting, coordinating
volunteers and working on new plays.  She has auditioned, cast, and
directed actors in New York City, Leicester, England and the Northeast Ohio
area since 1997.  Connie holds a BA in English from the Honors College at
Kent State University and received her MFA from The Actors Studio Drama
School at New School University where she studied method acting.



Ms. Thackberry is directing *Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then
Some)* for Weathervane Playhouse in Akron, Ohio which opens December 4th.  For
Actors’ Summit, she is directing the new play *Bad Jews* which performs in
April 2015.



Ms. Thackaberry has directed 11 productions for Actors’ Summit,
including *Handle
With Care*, *Nixon’s Nixon*, *Motherhood Out Loud*, *Becky’s New Car*, and
the world premiere of Eric Coble’s play *A Girl’s Guide to Coffee, *among
others*.  *Additionally Connie has directed in New York City and England,
with a focus on the process of creating new works and collaborating with
playwrights.  Ms. Thackaberry is a proud alum of the Lincoln Center
Directors Lab, an intensive workshop geared towards on early and mid-career
directors and focusing on dialogue between directors, actors and
playwrights.  She was the co-creator of two original pieces there.



As an actor, Connie is a proud member of Actors Equity and received her
card while working with Great Lakes Theater Festival.  She has appeared
onstage at Actors’ Summit several times, including the roles of Catherine
in *Proof*, Meg in *Crimes of the Heart*, Karen in *For Better,* June
in *Sanders
Family Christmas *and Natalya in Chekov’s *The Proposal*.



Connie enjoys the casting process, auditions and guiding artists in
fulfilling their dreams!
