THE PLAYERS GUILD ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR
THE CAT IN THE HAT

The Players Guild Theatre announces upcoming auditions for THE CAT IN THE
HAT, under the direction of Donald Jones. Mr. Jones is best known for
playing the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the Players Guild Theatre’s
production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL for the past 5 seasons.

Based on and adapted from the beloved Dr. Seuss book by the National
Theatre of Great Britain, THE CAT IN THE HAT is a lively, engaging "play
with sound effects" for performance by adults for young children. Not a
word has been touched or added to Dr. Seuss's classic, ensuring anyone
who's read the story will find themselves transported into the world
they've always imagined.

>From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the
door, Sally and her brother know that THE CAT IN THE HAT is the funniest,
most mischievous cat they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and
craziest of ideas, he is certainly fun to play with. And he turns a rainy
afternoon into an amazing adventure. But what will mom find when she gets
home...?

Auditions for this W.G. Fry Theatre drama will be held at the Players Guild
Theatre located in the Cultural Center for the Arts, 1001 Market Ave N., on
Sunday, December 7 from 6:30 – 9:30 PM. The Players Guild is seeking
adults ages 16 years and older for all roles. All roles are available and
non-traditional casting will be considered for all roles. Persons with
acrobatic skills, juggling skills, or other special skills are encouraged
to audition, however those specific skills are not required. Those
auditioning are asked to please prepare a short monologue which best
showcases their range of acting skills. Additionally, actors are asked to
bring a current headshot and resume (if available, but not required) with
them to their audition. Interested parties should sign up for a time slot
by filling out the available online form at www.playersguildtheatre.com or
by leaving a message and including their name, age, phone number and
preferred half-hour time slot with the Players Guild Theatre Box Office,
330.453.7617.

The first read through is scheduled for Monday, December 15 at 6:30 PM.
Rehearsals will begin following the holidays.

The production is scheduled to open on Friday, January 23 with performances
on Fridays at 8:00 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM through February
8, 2015. Additionally, there are student matinees scheduled for January 27
and 28 at 10:00 & 1:00 PM as well as February 3 & 4 at 10:00 AM.

THE CAT IN THE HAT is generously supported by the Hills & Dales and Canton

The Players Guild Theatre receives support from these generous partners:
