*Life in a southern town is changed when a local lawyer, Atticus Finch,
defends a black man wrongly accused of raping a white woman. The story is
seen through the eyes of his daughter, Scout, and explores social
injustice. Harper Lee’s moving story remains a timeless classic.Directed by
Angela Miloro-Hansen*

*Audition Dates: Monday, December 8 from 6:30-9:00 PM at the Geauga Arts
Center 106 Water Street Chardon, Oh.*

*Audition Information:*

Please prepare a 1-2 minute serious monologue in your best Southern accent
and be prepared to read from the script. Parents/children should be aware
that discussion of race, prejudice and mature content will be included. Any
questions, call the Business office at 440-285-7701.

*Casting Information:*

Scout Finch, 8-12 years, female: Tomboy, courageous, outspoken *Must be
able to convincingly play an 8 year old.

Jem Finch, 13-15 years, male: Athletic, trying to grow closer to his father

Atticus Finch, 40-60 years, male: Reserved, courageous, does the right thing

Calpurnia, 20-60 years, African American, female: Proud, self-educated,
high standards, has helped raise Scout and Jem

Dill, 8-15 years: Wise beyond his years, smart, has a lacking home life.
Male and female actors will be considered for this rol

Heck Tate, 40s and up, male: Town sheriff, does his duty as he sees it,
underlying sense of justice

Tom Robinson, 25 and up, African American, male: Kind, sensitive, quiet
dignity. Handsome. Left hand is cripple

Miss Maudie Atkinson, 30-50 years, female: Kind, wise, compassionate

Miss Stephanie Crawford, 25-40 years, female: Neighborhood gossip

Bob Ewell, 30s and up, male: Cruel, abusive, paranoid, trying to make a
name for himself

Mayella Ewell, 19 years, female: Lonely, overworked, misguided, need for
companionship

Walter Cunningham, 30s and up, male: Hard-up farmer, shares the prejudices
of his time but his attitude is changing. This role will be doubled with
Judge Taylor

Judge Taylor, 30s and up, male: Tries to be impartial, but sides with
Atticus and Tom. Does what he can to see justice is served. This role will
be doubled with Walter Cunningham

Reverend Sykes, 20s and up, African American, male: Imposing and kind,
strong voice

Nathan Radley, 30s and up, male: Thin, leathery, laconic. This role will be
doubled with Boo Radley

Boo Radley, 30s and up, male: Pale recluse, hasn’t been out of his house in
15 years. Takes extraordinary situations to bring him out. This role will
be doubled with Nathan Radley

Mrs. Dubose, 50s and up, female: Ill, and the pain makes her biting and
bitter

Mr. Gilmer, 40s and up, male: Public prosecutor, manner is harsh. Knows Tom
is innocent and must prosecute him anyway

Rehearsal Information: Rehearsals begin the week of January 11. Those in
Bye Bye Birdie will be able to audition, but must bring a list of conflicts
for their final 2 weeks of rehearsals.
