The BW Conservatory Outreach Department provides quality arts education to students of all ages, infants to retirees, and all levels, beginners to pre-professionals.  Registration is now open for Winter/Spring Semester.  Our current class schedule is listed below.

Teachers for all instruments, including voice, music theory, composition and music therapy, are available for beginning to experienced students.

Beginning Fiddling Class, for ages 12 to adult

For those interested in learning violin fiddling technique through the Mark O'Connor fiddling method.  Mondays, 6:30-7:30 pm, beginning February 2, 2015.

Children's Piano Class, for ages 5 to 10 years
Parents will work together with their children to learn the basics of piano.  Saturday 12:00-12:50; 1:00-1:50.  Tuesday 5:30-6:20; 6:30-7:20 pm., beginning February 7, 2015.



Group Piano Class - Adults, for ages 18 and up

Adults study the important fundamentals of piano playing in a supportive environment.  Mondays 7:00-7:45; 7:45-8:30 pm., beginning February 2, 2015.



Group Voice Class - Teen, for ages 13-18 Audition Required (new students only)

Take group lessons for basic vocal training including a variety of techniques.  Tuesdays 5:00-5:30 pm; Wednesdays 5:00-5:30 pm., beginning January 6 or 7, 2015.


Group Voice Class - Adults, for ages 18 and up Audition Required (new students only)

Adults participate in vocal training in a group setting.  Saturday 9:30-10:00 am, Level 1; 10:00-10:30 am, Level 2, beginning January 10, 2015.



MusicPlay, for ages infants to 3 years

Children and their caregivers experience music and movement as play.  Tuesday 9:00-9:45 am; 10:00-10:45 am; 11:00-11:45 am., beginning February 10, 2015.



Music+Rhythm+Movement<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/prep/dalcroze/>, ages 3 to 6 years

Uses Dalcroze Eurhythmics exercises to help children develop coordination and musical expression. Saturdays: 2:00-2:40 pm, 5-8 year olds; Mondays: 10:00-10:30 am, 3 year olds; Mondays: 10:35-11:15 am, 4 year olds, beginning February 10, 2015.


Suzuki Strings<http://www.bw.edu/academics/conservatory/outreach/prep/suzuki/>, for ages 5 to 10 years

Through weekly private lessons, group classes and strong parent involvement, students learn to play the violin as a member of a musical family much like learning their first language.  Group classes on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  Private lessons arranged throughout the week.  Beginning January 15, 2015.


Triple Threat Music Theatre Program, for grades 4 - 10

Triple Threat is for students to improve their singing, acting and dancing skills.  Semester focus: Mary Poppins, including skype talk with Dominic Roberts, BW Music Theatre Graduate, who starred as Bert in the National Touring Company.  Saturdays, 9:00 - 11:00 am, beginning February 14, 2015.



Ensembles:



BW Fiddling Ensemble, for ages 12 to adult

For students looking to continue their study of fiddling through the Mark O'Connor method in an ensemble setting.  Mondays, 7:30-8:30 pm, beginning January 13, 2015.



BW Men's Chorus Audition Required
Sing a wide variety of music written especially for the male voice in a choral setting.  Rehearse Tuesday nights from 7:00-9:00 pm, beginning January 13, 2015.

Honors Chorale - Audition Required

Youth Honors Chorale<file:///\\liberty\condata$\Class%20and%20Ensemble%20Registrations\2014-2015\Honors%20Chorale%20Auditions.xlsx> is a choir for students grades 6 - 8.  This group is for young singers to help them develop their vocal and musical skills.   Exceptional 5th graders may be considered.  Mondays 5:45-6:45 pm-boys;  6:15-7:20 pm-girls, beginning January 26, 2015.

Senior Honors Chorale, for students grades 9-12. Choral singing at a high level of excellence, helping young singers develop their vocal and musical skills.  Mondays 7:30-9:00 pm., beginning January 26, 2015.



New Horizons Bands, for adults of all ages

For adults interested in playing a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument; perfect for those with no experience or for those who played during their school days. Intermediate, advanced and jazz bands also available.  Wednesday 6:00-9:00 pm, beginning February 18, 2015.


New Horizons Orchestras, for adults of all ages

Learn to play violin, viola, cello, or bass; perfect for those with no experience or for those who played during their school days. Intermediate and advanced-level orchestras also available.  Tuesdays 6:00-9:00 pm, beginning February 17, 2015.

Concert Winds: Ensemble for woodwind, brass and percussion players with a minimum of one year private study.  Saturdays, 1:00-2:30 pm, beginning January 24, 2015.

Symphonic Winds: Ensemble for advanced woodwind, brass and percussion players.  Saturdays, 3:00-5:00 pm, beginning January 24, 2015.


Youth Orchestra Program Audition Required

String Ensemble: Youth Orchestra program ensemble for beginning-level string students.  Saturdays, 9:15-10:15 am, beginning January 17, 2015.

String Orchestra: Youth Orchestra program ensemble for intermediate-level string students.  Saturdays, 10:30 am-12:00 pm, beginning January 17, 2015.

Junior Youth Orchestra: Youth Orchestra program ensemble for intermediate string players.  Saturdays, 9:00-10:15 am, beginning January 17, 2015.

Senior Youth Orchestra: Youth Orchestra program ensemble for advanced string, woodwind, brass and percussion players.  Saturdays, 10:30 am-12:30 pm, beginning January 17, 2015.
