Directed with dignity and diligence by Nathan Motta, *A Civil War Christmas* is
told in a series of vignettes that range from optimistic to ominous. Motta
stages the scenes in a circular setting that allows viewers to step into
the past and feel the palpable pain, panic, pride and promise that each

The two-act play is populated by a variety of charismatic characters,
including soldiers and civilians, politicians and paupers. The ensemble
cast is versatile enough to play a variety of roles while forming an

Briley, Caris Collins, Andrew Gombas, Natalie Green, Sally Groth, Katrice
Headd, Bob Keefe, Nathan A. Lilly, Lashawn Little, Brian Mueller, Matt
O'Shea, Juliette Regnier, Nicole Sumlin, Tim Tavcar and Matthew Wright.

sturdy setting, and Tesia Dugan Benson created the traditionally tailored
costumes. Lighting designer Marcus Dana and sound designer Richard Ingraham
fill the space with visual and aural intensity. Motta teams up with Jordan
Cooper as co-musical directors to fill the evening with moving carols, folk
songs and spirituals...
