One-act 'Einstein' is as formulaic as E = mc2

Striking a wooden match to light his pipe in the darkness of the Actors' Summit stage is the pillar of theoretical physics, the father of General Relativity himself: Albert Einstein.

Only his famous profile and fly-away hair are illuminated as he dramatically readies himself to pontificate on the vast mysteries of the universe and the complex scientific theories he generated to explain them.

But then Einstein pauses, ponders, retreats off-stage and, several long moments later, humbly and apologetically reenters with a fistful of papers he absent-mindedly forgot in the other room.

So begins Brian Zoldessy's absolutely charming, accessible and endearing portrayal of Einstein.

Yet the one-act, one-man show that follows - an informal and often humorous chat with the noted physicist in his disheveled home office on the campus of Princeton University in 1946 - shares few of those admirable adjectives.
