"A Sip and a Show": Wine Education Plus a Play Set in Italy

The Ashtabula Arts Center has partnered with Geneva's Windows on Pairings,
Ohio's Wine & Culinary Experience, to bring a wine education class in
sensory palate training to the arts center on Saturday, February 7, the
opening weekend of Enchanted April, a stage production set in Italy's wine
country.

"Our February production of Enchanted April is the perfect venue for
beginning our joint venture with Windows on Pairings, which I hope will be
just the start of many partnered events to come, both here at the arts
center and at their beautiful new establishment in Geneva," says Lori
Robishaw, Ashtabula Arts Center's Executive Director. "Wine, theater, and
art have always been considered some of life's greatest pleasures and
Northeast Ohio is a gold mine of great cultural events and activities."

"A Sip and a Show" will feature a 6 p.m. pre-show class that will answer the
questions, "what is swirling, smelling, and sipping all about?" as this
class takes participants on a sensory tasting to teach the fine art of
distinguishing flavors and characteristics found in favorite wines.
Participants will leave with the confidence to order, taste, and talk about
wine at any social event.

Following the class, students will be given a ticket to watch the 7:30 p.m.
performance of Enchanted April, a story of two women who rent an Italian
Villa in the wine making countryside for an impulsive holiday away from
their husbands. They recruit a pair of wealthy women to share the cost, and
there, among the wisteria blossoms, grape vines, and Mediterranean sunshine,
the women clash, and then bond and bloom, until men once again upset the
balance.

"Pairings is thrilled to be developing a partnership with the Ashtabula Arts
Center, a true gem of the county. What a better way to get started than with
Enchanted April. While the show's characters venture to Italy's wine
country, theater-goers can explore the delicacies of wine tasting here in
the heart of Ohio's wine country."

Tickets to "A Sip and a Show" are $40 each and include both the 6 p.m.
sensory palate training class plus a theater ticket to see the 7:30 p.m.
performance of Enchanted April. Tickets can be purchased by calling the
Ashtabula Arts Center at (440) 964-3396 or by visiting the box office at
2928 W. 13th Street, Ashtabula.

The Ashtabula Arts Center is funded in part by the Ohio Arts Council.
