The Women's Board of Beck Center for the Arts is delighted to sponsor a
Jazz Brunch, featuring the legendary Doris Long Jazz Ensemble.

A native Clevelander, Doris Long has been singing jazz standards from the
Great American songbook throughout Northeast Ohio since the 1960's. Now 86,
she is a local legend who has played with many jazz greats on the Cleveland
scene. In 2006, she decided to hire Joe Hunter (piano) and Dallas Coffey
(bass) to join her on Friday nights at the Waterbury Coach House in
Lakewood. Eight years later, with her classic smooth singing style, Doris
and the band continue to attract fans of all ages. She released her debut
CD "Long Overdue" in 2012 at the age of 83. It features Joe Hunter on
piano, Dallas Coffey on bass, Val Kent on drums, and for our performance,
they will be joined by Al Fuller on saxophone .

One of her fellow musicians says of her:

"Doris is one of the truly great jazz singers in Cleveland. It is so
inspiring to play with a singer who possesses a relaxed, elegant swing feel
in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald, Maxine Sullivan and Peggy Lee. And,
like those great singers, she understands and loves these wonderful songs."
