[NEohioPAL] Still Appointment Slots Available for Mon/Tue AUDITIONS for Beck's "The Young Man From Atlanta"

Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood along with Director Eric Schmeidl is
casting
Horton Foote's 1995 Pulitzer Prize winning "The Young Man From Atlanta"

Auditions will be held by appt. on *Monday, Feb. 9th and Tuesday, Feb.
10th.* Slots
begin at 5:30PM for those having a rehearsal those nights, and will
continue until
approximately 7:30 PM. They will consist of cold readings from the script.
Sides will be
provided those evenings prior to auditions, so it is recommended that you
come a bit
early to look them over, as well as to fill out a few forms. Please bring
resume' and a
headshot if one is available. *Callbacks* will likely occur the weekend of
the 14th/15th.

Roles are available for 5 Men and 3 Women. Anne McEvoy has been cast in the
role of
Lily Dale. There are up to 2 AEA contracts ("Special Appearance") available
for this
production. All actors 18 and over receive a stipend for their
participation in Beck
Center productions. A description of roles appears below.

The production opens on May 29th and plays 5 weekends
(Friday/Saturday/Sunday only)
thru June 28th. It is anticipated that rehearsals will begin in mid April.

*Available Roles:*

*WILL KIDDER*:    Male, Caucasian, 64 years old. Hearty, husky,
competitive, naturally  optimistic. Will is inspired and impressed by
consumer goods always seeking out “the         biggest and the best” in all
things.  A former athlete he has become accustomed to success

and until these past few months has experienced very few setbacks and/or
difficulties.  Now

his only son has committed suicide, and he is being fired from his sales
job of over 40 years

at Sunshine Southern Wholesale Company.  He must embrace these trials and
help his wife,

Lilly Dale, come to terms with their son’s death.



*PETE DAVENPORT*: Male, Caucasian, 72 years old. Honest, quiet, authentic,
intuitive.

Originally from Atlanta, Pete moved to Atlanta in his mid 20’s and worked
as an engineer for     the Southern Pacific until he retired. He is Will
Kidder’s father-in-law having married Lilly Dale's mother. Now a widower,
he lives with Will and Lilly Dale acting as a confidant for each      of
the two.



*TOM JACKSON*:  Male, Caucasian, 35 years old. Thoughtful, sincere,
easy-going, opportunistic.

Tom is a young professional, husband, and father on his way up the
corporate ladder.  He easily gets along with everybody. Will Kidder is
Tom’s mentor.  The two get along very well, but Tom has been chosen for a
promotion and will soon take over Will’s job.



*CARSON:*  Male, Caucasian, late 20’s. Ernest, friendly, talkative.Carson
is Pete’s grand-nephew.  He grew up in Atlanta but has recently moved to
Atlanta in order to find work.  He knew Will Kidder’s son, Bill, as well as
Bill’s friend, the young man from Atlanta.





*TED CLEVELAND Jr.:*  Male, Caucasian, 44 years old. Brash, hurried,
well-educated but not very intellectual or intuitive. Son of the founder of
Sunshine Southern Wholesale Company, Ted now runs Sunshine himself which is
going through a tough patch having lost three major clients.

*CLARA:*   Female, African American, 40’s. Smart, intuitive, efficient.
Clara keeps the house for the Kidders.  She is very clever and able to
easily navigate through the various cultures and challenges she encounters
every day in Houston.



*ETTA DORIS*:  Female, African American, 50’s – 60’s. Thoughtful, honest,
determined.

Etta Doris kept house for the Kidders back when their son Bill was a child.
  Removed from their life by many years, she still remembers the child
fondly and feels an obligation to reach out to  his parents now in their
moment of grief.



*MISS LACEY: *  Female, Caucasian, 20’s. Reserved, hard-working, detailed.
Miss Lacey is Will Kidder’s secretary at the Sunshine Southern Wholesale
Grocery.
