[NEohioPAL] AUDITIONS: Treasure Island, All's Well That Ends Well, Joe Turner's Come and Gone for Oberlin Summer Theater Festival's 2015 Season

The Oberlin Summer Theater Festival will be holding auditions for its upcoming 2015 Season on:

Saturday, February 21 from 10 am to 5 pm (All three shows);

Monday, February 23 from 7pm to 10pm (“Treasure Island” and “All’s Well” only), Wednesday 25 from 7 to 9. (All three shows)

The auditions will be held in Warner Center Gym, Theater and Dance Departments, Oberlin College, near NW corner of Professor and West College Streets, Oberlin.

Please email pmoser at oberlin.edu requesting an appointment within a hour window (and with any questions) and we will return message with confirmation. Please also attach current headshot and resume. (No phone calls, please) Prepare one short (1 -2 minute) contemporary monologue and a Shakespeare speech in Verse (if auditioning for “All’s Well”). You may be asked to read a short scene from one of the plays.

 

2015 Season:

 Ken Ludwig’s adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” directed by Artistic Director Paul Moser. (Rehearsals begin Tue June 2, opens Fri July 3, performs in rotating rep until Sat August 8. 10 weeks, 14 Performances. Most actors play multiple roles. We are looking for male “character” actors, ages 30 to 60 years old.)


 “All’s Well That Ends Well” by William Shakespeare, directed by Artistic Director Paul Moser. (Rehearsals begin Tue June 9, opens Fri July 10, performs in rotating rep until Sat August 8. 9 weeks, 14 Performances. Looking for mature men for possible roles: King of France, LaFew, LaVatch, Parolles. And women for the Widow Capilet)


 “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” by August Wilson, directed by Caroline Jackson Smith. Rehearsals begin Tue June 16, opens Fri July 17, performs in rotating rep until Fri August 7. 8 weeks, 10 Performances. Looking for mature African American men and women for adult roles: Seth and Bertha Holly, Harold Loomis, and Bynum Walker; and mature white actor for Rutherford Selig.)


 

OSTF, now going into its seventh season, presents FREE family classics in rotating rep in Hall Auditorium, Oberlin College, over six weeks during July and early August. The acting company is composed of Equity Guest Artists, experienced/mature non-equity performers, and Oberlin College Theater Department alumni and students (playing age appropriate roles). Company members perform in one or two shows in the season. All actors are paid weekly for both rehearsals and performances. Equity actors are hired under AEA’s Guest Artist Contract, Level 1. (AEA members performing in two rep shows, Level III.) OSTF covers AEA’s Health Insurance. Each show rehearses an average 24 hours a week, Mondays off; performing 3 times a week.  Rehearsal and performance days and times varies weekly, because we rehearse/perform three shows in rotating rep; tentative schedules will be available at auditions.
