The Hudson Players are excited to announce their winter musical,
“Suessical”, opening February 6, 2015. A family-friendly event, they
encourage the community to bring their whole family to see the whimsical
world of Dr. Seuss come to life on stage. 2014 marked the 110th birthday
of the beloved author, whose work has won Academy Awards, a Peabody Award,
a Pulitzer and has been translated into more than 20 languages to be
enjoyed by children worldwide. *Seussical* seamlessly intertwines the
characters, stories and themes from cherished classics, including *Horton
Hears a Who!, The One Feather Tail of Miss Gertrude McFuzz, *and* Oh, the
Thinks You Can Think!*

The Hudson Players are extremely excited about the fact that this
production has allowed entire families to share the stage together. Publicity
director, Dana Herro states, “It is so very special when we do a show that
allows families to work together in the Hudson community. We have kids on
stage, moms acting or working on costumes, dads singing and building sets,
and even nieces on stage crew!” Akron resident Holly Reimer, who plays
Mayzie LaBird, is thrilled to be sharing the stage with her daughter
Audrey, age 9 and son Charlie, age 8. “I am so happy that I am able to be
in a show with the kids”, says Reimer. “It truly may be a once in a
lifetime chance to do something like this together and it has been so much
fun! It’s been an amazing bonding experience for all of us!” Audrey adds,
“It’s fun to be in a show with people you already know, especially your
family, it’s cool!” Jim Marzullo of Aurora is also enjoying the family
bonding time. He shares the stage with his wife, Theresa, and daughters
Gina, age 11 and Rachel, age 7. “I love watching the kids at rehearsals
and the expressions on their faces”, says Marzullo. McCartney Betz, age
14, has lots of experience on the stage and is excited to rope the rest of
the family in. “Being the supportive family that they are, my parents
often sit through my theatre rehearsals! It’s been so nice that all of us
get to be a part of this and have something to do to bring it all together.”
McCartney’s mom, Jennifer, has been helping diligently with costumes and
dad, Michael, is proud to be on stage with his daughter. Michael agrees
that “It’s great seeing my whole family sharing this experience”.
