Here is some information about an upcoming concert of traditional Chinese music taking place in Kent, Ohio:

Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble

The Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble, Northeast Ohio's traditional Chinese orchestra, returns to the Kent Free Library for a new program of music featuring solo and ensemble pieces from a variety of regions in China, as well as poetry and storytelling.
The ensemble will perform on an assortment of traditional Chinese musical instruments including dizi and xiao (bamboo flutes), sheng (mouth organ), suona (oboe), erhu (fiddle), gaohu (Cantonese fiddle), yehu (coconut fiddle), sihu (4-stringed fiddle), dahu (bass fiddle), pipa (pear-shaped lute), yueqin (moon lute), gongs, drums, and other percussion.

● Medley of Folk Songs (Min Ge Lianzou, 民歌联奏)● Childhood Sweethearts (Qing Mei Zhu Ma, 青梅竹马)● Thunder in the Drought (Han Tian Lei, 旱天雷)● Poem: "The Deer Enclosure" (鹿柴) by Wang Wei● Erhu solo: Birds Singing in the Deserted Mountain (Kong Shan Niao Yu, 空山鸟语) - featuring Chee-Hang See, erhu● Poem: "Su Wu" (苏武) by Li Bai● Su Wu Herding Sheep (Su Wu Muyang, 苏武牧羊) - featuring David Badagnani, voice● Three Variations of "Plum Blossoms" (Mei Hua San Nong, 梅花三弄)● Storytelling with music: The Rats Marry Off their Daughter (老鼠嫁女, Laoshu Jia Nü)● Merriment in a Peaceful Time (Yu Le Shengping, 娱乐升平)● Manchu Lullaby (Bebu Mudan, 摇篮曲)● Let Us Meet at the Ovoo (Aobao Xianghui, 敖包相会)● Wild Dance of the Golden Snake (Jin She Kuang Wu, 金蛇狂舞)
The concert, which will be held in the library's upstairs meeting room, is free and open to the public and no registration or tickets are required; arrive early for the best seats. The library requests that audience members stop at the second floor information desk 30 minutes prior to the concert for an event pass.
