[NEohioPAL] Audition Notice: Paid Rehearsals & Performances

Kulture Kids, a nonprofit arts education organization, has received funding through Cuyahoga Arts & Culture to create and tour an original children's theater performance. We are looking for a local actor to lead this one-person touring production. Details are below:
  
THE ROLE
Ma’at is Missing is a new, touring, one-actor children’s play that seeks to demonstrate the importance of The Golden Rule. The actor will play the part of an archeologist searching for the lost Temple of Ma'at, the Egyptian goddess of manners, justice, and civility.  


Rehearsals will begin in late April/May and can be scheduled around actor's availability. Previews, re-writes, and additional rehearsals will take place in the summer with an opening scheduled for late August. Performances will primarily take place in Fall 2015 in libraries and schools on weekdays, with some weekend and evening performances. All rehearsals and performances are paid. 


Additionally, there is potential for the actor's role to expand to include providing follow-up classroom workshops that correspond to the performance. All workshops would also be paid. 


Kulture Kids performs in traditional and non-traditional spaces for diverse audiences. 


AUDITION DETAILS

Please come prepared to perform:
.  A 1 minute children's story or poem of your choice
.  A short, upbeat song (a capella only, no accompaniment available)
.  A short dance shown to you 
.  A cold reading from the script
.  An improvisation activity
.  A demonstration of any special skills you might have. 


Actor must be versatile in their skills, able to sing, dance, improvise, run tech support, and work well with a diverse audience of children and families. Additional skills suggested, but not required, could include juggling and magic (or a willingness to learn), whistling, burping on cue, and any other unusual skills. Show us what you can do.


Auditions will be held at the Cleveland Heights Main Library 2345 Lee Road as follows:

March 28 in Room A from 1:00 - 4:00 pm
March 29 in Room A from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.


Callbacks will be scheduled as needed.
