FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Audition update for Rabbit Run Theater’s 2015 Summer
Season

 

Audition appointments are now being taken for the 2015 summer season at
Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio. 

 

The productions for the summer are DEATHTRAP, Hello, Dolly!, Jacques Brel is
Alive and Well and Living in Paris and Private Lives.


Auditions for the male leads in Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in
Paris have been extended through this weekend, Saturday, Mar. 14 and Sunday,
Mar. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. both days.  Auditions for all other productions are
Saturday, Mar. 14, and Sunday, Mar. 15, as well.

 

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, based on Brel’s lyrics
and commentary, is credited with being the show that saved Playhouse Square
in Cleveland and achieved worldwide adoration and fame.  Brel’s passionate
and profound style of music bewitches the audience with its all-at-once
haunting, witty, dramatic and heart-rending songs.  The show runs from July
17 through Aug. 2.

 

Roles are available for two men, ages 20 to 45.  Auditions are Saturday,
Mar. 14, and Saturday, Mar. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m.  Actors should be prepared
to sing 16 measures of a Broadway-style song.  Please bring sheet music for
accompaniment; no pre-recorded accompaniment.  Dress comfortably for
movement.

 

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well is directed by Peter J. Davis, with musical
direction by Kyle Lorek.

 

DEATHTRAP, written by Ira Levin, runs from May 29 to June 13.  Suffering
from a string of flops, playwright Sidney Bruhl is prepared to go to any
lengths to improve his fortunes.  With its gasp-inducing thrills and
spontaneous humor, DEATHTRAP provides twists, turns and sudden shocks in
abundance keeping audiences spellbound.



Auditions are Saturday, Mar. 14, 1 to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 15, 1:30 to 3
p.m.  There are three roles available for men, ages 20 – 60 and two roles
for women, ages 40 - 60.  Actors will read from the script, and do not need
to prepare a monologue.  The show is directed by Robert Gibb.

 

Hello, Dolly! opens June 19 and runs through July 10.  Hello, Dolly! has
multiple roles available for men and women ages 15 - 60.  With music and
lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Michael Stewart, Hello Dolly is one of
the most enduring musicals of all times and holds a special place in the
hearts of theater lovers.  Widowed matchmaker Dolly Levi is hired to find
the perfect match for a grumpy, wealthy Yonkers widower.

 

Actors auditioning for Hello, Dolly! should be prepared to sing 16 measures
of a Broadway-style song.  Please bring sheet music for accompaniment; no
pre-recorded accompaniment.  Dress comfortably for movement.

 

Auditions are Saturday, Mar. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Mar. 15, 1:30
p.m. to 5 p.m.  The show is directed by Brendan Sandham with musical
direction by Danielle Jones and Alex Ulle.

 

Private Lives, by Noël Coward, runs from Aug. 14 through Aug. 29.  Noël
Coward’s Private Lives is one of the most sophisticated, uniquely humorous
plays ever written.  Glamorous, rich, and reckless, Elyot and Amanda have
been divorced from each other for five years. While honeymooning with new
spouses, the couple has a chance meeting across adjoining balconies.  Former
passions being rekindled, they hurl themselves into love and war.

Actors auditioning for Private Lives should be familiar with the character’s
script and able to speak with a British accent.  There are three roles
available for women, ages 25 to 55, and two male roles, ages 25 to 55.  

 

Actors auditioning will read from the script and do not need to prepare a
monologue.  Auditions are Saturday, Mar. 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. and Sunday,
Mar. 15, 1:30 to 3 p.m.  Private Lives is directed by Ann Hedger.  

 

All auditions are at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St.,

Rabbit Run Theater is one of the few barn theaters remaining in Ohio and is
open every summer from the beginning of June through the end of August.  The
theater is located at 5648 W. Chapel Rd., Madison.  

 

RRCAA is a comprehensive fine arts association offering year-round
instruction in all the major disciplines of the fine and performing arts and
also operates Rabbit Run Theater.  Partial funding is provided by the Ohio
Arts Council.
