Cleveland Play House's 'The Pianist' is an enthralling, evocative memoir

All of us readers of the Cleveland Jewish News have a personal story to share about Kristellnacht and its life-altering impact on our families.
Many of our stories take place on the Kindertransport - the trains that carried children from Nazi-occupied cities like Berlin, Vienna and Prague to safe havens like London.
But none of us, save for Mona Golabek, have the remarkable skill and unique opportunity to set those stories to classical music and share them on stage.
Golabek's enchanting one-woman, one-act "The Pianist of Willesden Lane" is directed by Hershey Felder who, in 2012, adapted the work from Goldabek's co-authored book "The Children of Willesden Lane." The production opened at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles and has been performing encore performances ever since, including the current Cleveland Play House engagement at the Allen Theatre.
