*AUDITION NOTICE FOR VICKIE WILLIAMS’      “IMAGINE FREEDOM,”*

*A one- act play to be performed at Cleveland Public Theatre’s Station of
Hope*



Attention:  Auditions for “Imagine Freedom,“ a one-act play by Vickie Williams
on Thursday, March 26, 2105 from 5-7 p.m. at     Rainey Institute, 1705 E.55
th St., Cleveland

You will be a part of Cleveland Public Theatre’s Station of Hope, a
multi-art event that celebrates the Underground Railroad and the hope for
freedom and justice today scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2015.  Rehearsal
schedule is approximately 2 days a week and a bit more when we get closer
to performance.  Rehearsal site and time to be determined ASAP.

Vickie Williams’ one-act play, “Imagine Freedom,” powerfully captures the
indomitable strength and wisdom of Susanna King Taylor.  Born under slavery
in 1848, Miss King became the first black army nurse, first teacher to
former slaves in Georgia and author of “Reminiscences of My Life in Camp,”
an account of life in the 33rd United Colored Troops during the Civil War.



Come prepared to read from the script.  The parts available are:



*Susie Taylor King* –50, a poised, educated African-American Women



*Young Susie*—14, Susie King Taylor when she was young, a decorous and
articulate girl known as Susie Baker



*Narrator Susie*—60, the African-American narrator and oldest Susie



*Russell Taylor*—Mid 50’s, a calm-natured, hardworking African-American
man.  Susie King’s second husband



*LTC C.T. Trowbridge* 40, a white northern superior officer



*Sergeant Edward King*, about 17, Sergeant in the first colored Army unit.
He is a powerfully built African-American man, and Susie King Taylor’s
first husband



*Soldier 1*         age range 16 to 40, African-American service member



*Soldier 2         *age range 16 to 40, African-American service member
