The Wandering Aesthetics/Electric Pressure Cooker

Logo Design Contest!

1) Through the transformational forces of high heat and intense sustained pressure, bits of carbon are formed into diamonds. 

2) The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Tests, written by Tom Wolfe, is a book that chronicled an underground art movement that began with the Beat Generation stretched into Merry Pranksters and Hippies and still reverberates today. 

1 + 2 = 3) In an attempt to honor our psychedelic, countercultural and artistic forefathers, while applying heat and intense, sustained pressure to the Akron Art Scene, Wandering Aesthetics and Rubber City Theater Company created The Electric Pressure Cooker, an “ANYTHING GOES” open mic cabaret. 

2 + 2 = 5) The #EPCooker brings all varieties of art and skill level together in a countercultural space where artists are free to experiment, cultivate their work and develop their stage presence. We are also a growing community who supports one another. The Electric Pressure Cooker is built on the foundation of the “3 R’s”: Respect the Performer, Respect the audience, and Respect the Space. This transformative monthly event is as free and open as possible.

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34…) Our logo will be the “face” of the Electric Pressure Cooker. 

It somehow needs to encompass the whole event while helping us envision what the event may become in the future. It needs to have some mystery and breathing room. 

It should inspire people. 

It should inspire people to attend. 

It should be memorable and immediately recognizable as the “EPCooker’.

 It needs to stick in people’s minds. 

Your logo design will impact this event. 

The Simple Requests a/k/a The Rules

This logo competition is open to everyone, though we have some simple requests...

1.     The deadline for submissions is: Saturday, April 11 by the end of the EPCooker.

2.     Submissions must be sent as a JPEG (picture) or PDF (a type of file that we are quite uncertain what it IS exactly) to WATheatre at gmail.com <mailto:WATheatre at gmail.com>, or may be submitted as a hard copy at the April 11th EPCooker.  Please include your name and “logo submission” in the subject line of all electronic submissions.

3.     The logo must be a visual representation of the event and ethos as enumerated above. The logo does not have to be “finished” but should be more than a “napkin sketch.” 

4.     It may - but is not required - to contain the words or phrases...

·      The Electric Pressure Cooker

·      EPCooker 

·      EPC 

5.     Must be no bigger than 4”x 4”.

6.     Must be able to be scanned and edited digitally.

7.     Entries may be submitted in either a single color, full color or both. However, images should be aesthetically pleasing in ALL versions as they will appear printed in both single color and full color formats. 

8.     Out of the submissions, the Electric Pressure Cooker lead team will narrow down the selection to three finalists. Those finalists will be voted on at the May Electric Pressure Cooker by the community-at-large. 

9.     The final design (or three finalists) may be asked to make alterations to their creations at the discretion of the Wandering Aesthetics’ team. This may require working closely with members of the WA team. 

10.  Wandering Aesthetics will be the sole owner of the final design. The winner will receive:

·      A Free #EPCooker T-shirt (Featuring the Final Design)

·      Free #EPCooker Stickers (And – possibly – stickers of Kittens) 

·      Dinner at Pub Bricco during an #EPCooker

·      A TREMENDOUS amount of recognition at Wandering Aesthetics events and in press releases and media coverage of the EPCooker.

·      Our everlasting gratitude 

 By submitting a design, you agree to the above rules.

Once again, this contest is open to everyone­ – artists and non-artists alike. Keep in mind, if your logo is chosen, it is just the beginning. The WA team may want to work with you to make changes to the design and changes made are solely at their discretion.  A willingness to work alongside the Wandering Aesthetics is essential.
