ABOUT THE PLAY

Kris Kringle The Musical is a new Broadway bound show being developed in
Cleveland by NY’s Angel Polar Bear LLC in association with Broadway’s
Creative Licensing Group (Memphis, Million Dollar Quartet, Chicago, The
Addams Family, GHOST, Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan), and the producers of the
Tony Award Nominated musical Little Women.

The script and music will be presented with a reading in May of 2015 and
then a full scale production in December of 2015. Should the show continue
on to Broadway in 2016 or 2017, the show will be cast in NYC. It is
possible that select members of the Cleveland cast will be asked to join
the NYC production.

Kris Kringle lights up the stage in a new Christmas musical filled with
unforgettable songs that are sure to become instant holiday classics. This
captivating new holiday musical reveals the untold story of Kris Kringle.
Discover what happens when an evil toy company CEO crosses paths with a
jobless toy maker whose family name carries a curse with the power to
destroy Christmas. Christmas is looking merrier already!

AUDITION DATES,  LOCATION & APPOINTMENTS - AEA and non-AEA

Friday, March 27, 4:00 - 10:00pm

Saturday, March 28, 10:00am - Noon and 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

Olmsted Performing Arts is located at 6941 Columbia Rd., Olmsted Falls, OH
44138. Walk-ins will be seen as time permits.

Callbacks: Sunday, April 12 from 5:00pm - 10:00pm. Additionally, Monday
April 13 and/or Wednesday April 15 MIGHT be used.

AUDITION PREPARATION
Please prepare a one minute Disney or Classic (pre-1970: Rodgers &
Hammerstein, Bock & Harnick, Lerner & Lowe, etc.) song that is character
and objective driven, and a one minute contemporary monologue. An
accompanist will be provided. Download this audition form

fill it out and bring it with you. Dance auditions will take place at
callbacks.

PERFORMANCE DATES
Reading: A performance will take place on Monday evening, May 18 at 7:30pm
for an invited audience. It will be a modified “table read.”


Full Production: December 4 - 13, 2015. Fridays - Sundays. Friday, December
4, 7:30pm (preview), Saturday, December 5, 2:00pm (preview), Saturday,
December 5, 7:30pm (opening), Sunday, December 5, 3:00pm; Friday, December
11, 7:30pm, Saturday, December 12, 2:00pm & 7:30pm, Sunday, December 13,
3:00pm.

REHEARSALS
Reading: There will be 3-5 rehearsals the week before the May 18 “reading”
as well as possible private appointments with the music director in the
month previous.

Full Production: For most of the cast, the rehearsal period will be 5-6
weeks. Some AEA members may rehearse less weeks. Total rehearsal period is
October 19 or 26 to December 3, 2015. The number of rehearsals per week for
each actor will depend upon the amount of scenes in which they appear.
Weeknight rehearsals will generally be from 6:30 - 10:30pm. Saturday
rehearsals could be morning or afternoon. Sunday rehearsals could be
afternoon or evening. Please mark your conflicts and availability carefully
on your audition form: IE - “can arrive on all weeknights by 7pm” “can
arrive after church on Sunday by 1pm” etc.

ROLES AVAILABLE
All roles are open. Non-AEA actors will receive a competitive stipend for
their participation. AEA “guest artist” contracts will be considered. The
“reading” and “full production” will be compensated separately. A cast is
being sought to do both the “reading” and the “full production,” but if
there are conflicts for the “reading”  that might be able to be worked
around.

A dreamy genius toymaker. Fired from every job and looking for his place in
the world.

EVELYN NOEL, 20’s

Prim & proper, The head of the Apprentice’s Boot Camp. Kris’ love interest.

SANTA CLAUS, 60’s - 70’s

Happy and jolly, but multi-faceted, a real person.

MRS. CLAUS, 60’s-70’s

Santa’s wife. Loving, independant, & feisty.

ROY G. REEDY, 60’s

Mogul of an evil toy empire.

MS. HORN, 20’s-30’s

Former head of Elve’s Workshop. Elegant, fashionable & well spoken.

ELMER, 20’s-30’s

Current head of the Elve’s Workshop; Self centered, big ego, smooth talker.
Strong dance skills preferred.

GRANDMA KRINGLE, 60’s

Kris’ grandmother (might be doubled with Mrs. Claus)

LODINIA NOEL, 40’s-60’s

Evelyn’s mother (will also operate and voice the “Lodinia Doll,” and
various ensemble roles)

Late teens-20’s, North Pole apprentices who are Kris’ buddies.

Valley / California girl stereotype. Reedy’s employees.

MR. SCRATCHINGSWORTH, Kris’s former boss, 40’s - 60’s, Aristocratic, high
strung.

CHILDREN & TEENS
- Teenagers who look age 15 or older may audition for the adult ensemble on
March 27 & 28.

- Children who look 14 or younger will not be seen at the auditions on
