Weathervane Playhouse's 80th Season Continues with the Fast and Funny "Unnecessary Farce"
Two Cops, Three Crooks and Eight Doors Combine
to Create a Side-Splitting Comic Romp
Through May 10, 2015 Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
Written by Paul Slade Smith, Unnecessary Farce combines all the vital ingredients of a classic British farce - slamming doors, mistaken identities, manic plot twists and scheming shenanigans - but shifts the setting to present-day America. The result of this concoction is an uproarious, rapid-paced comedy involving two cops, three crooks and eight doors.
In an economy motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant. In the room next door, two undercover cops are supposed to catch the meeting on videotape. But there's some confusion as to who's in which room, who's watching the video, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes!
Weathervane Playhouse's production of Unnecessary Farce is directed by Marc Moritz, whose comic touches as a director have guided such previous Weathervane Playhouse productions as Don't Dress for Dinner and The 39 Steps.
