PRESIDENT MOM

World Premiere production at

BGSU Fireland College's Caryl Crane Youth Theatre

She has the hardest job in the country...raising a teenage daughter.

President Mom by Becca Anderson (New York City) and Dan Marshall (native of Sandusky, Ohio, and 1998 graduate of Sandusky Central Catholic High School) receives its World Premiere production at Caryl Crane Youth Theatre April 29 - May 2, 2015, in BGSU Firelands College's McBride Auditorium. Winner of the 4th Annual Ronald M. Ruble New Play Festival, President Mom introduces us to Claire McCallister, a typical teenage girl. She is stressed out about her bio exam and even more about finding a date to her high school's spring dance. This would be tough for anyone to handle, but Claire's mother just happens to be The President of the United States. And when President MOM turns the middle school dance in a national security disaster, Claire must choose between the boy she 'luvs' and a mouth-breathing son of a Senator who might just be the key to world peace. Rated G.

Head of State. Head of Household.

Performances for President Mom are April 29*, 30 and May 2 at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the preview performance on April 29 are $5 and can be purchased at the Box office one hour prior to curtain. The 4th Annual Ronald M. Ruble New Play Festival, which took place on May 3, 2014, in the McBride Auditorium at BGSU Firelands College, included the presentation of 3 outstanding new works for children's and youth theatre: Operation Oddball by Lisa Bruna, Losing Moscow by Kate Jacobs and Andy Burton, and President Mom by Becca Anderson and Dan Marshall. These finalists, chosen from a nationwide search for the most promising unproduced theatrical works relevant to youth today, were chosen by committee from the 52 submitted plays and musicals during 2014. During this free festival, the finalists were evaluated by a panel of industry professionals, our teen festival participants, and through an audience ballot. The three votes were combined and President Mom was chosen as Festival Winner. Playwrights Becca Anderson and Dan Marshall received a $500 prize courtesy of the festival sponsor, Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties.
