Baldwin Wallace's Summer Institute for Music Teaching and Learning is still open! Registration can all be done online by doing the following:

1. Click this link: http://www.bw.edu/academics/mae/profdev/. It will then direct you to Baldwin Wallace's professional develop page.

2. Choose the course that you wish to enroll in by clicking on a selection underneath 'Summer Music Institute.' This will then take you to the course and its description then select, 'Enroll Now.'
3. Next, you will be asked to fill out some personal information. Once you have completed the form select 'send form.'


Once the form has been completed and sent it will be transferred to our registration offices who will then register you for the class. Shortly after you are registered you will receive an email that explains items like: parking, classrooms on campus, payment, and so forth. If you are interested in housing during either of the Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Courses or Gordon Institute for Music Learning, please contact me for further information or if you would like to reserve a room.

Intermediate guitar skills for use in accompanying singing, exploring harmony and teaching guitar.
Participants may bring any acoustic guitar or rent one from BW for a small fee.

Orff-Shulwerk Teacher Education Course Level I*
July 6-17 (Monday-Friday); 8:00 am-4:30 pm

Develop Orff-Schulwerk principles and techniques through instruction in recorder, pitched and unpitched percussion, singing, movement, and Orff process.  An A.O.S.A.-approved course

Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Course Level II*
July 6-17 (Monday-Friday); 8:00 am-4:30 pm
Michelle Przbylowski, Laura Webster & Alan Purdum, Instructors; 4 credits; $610
For those who have successfully completed Level I, this course includes a focus on rhythm, melodic experience, Orff instrument technique and musicianship, movement, recorder play improvisation, Orff theory, and orchestration.  An A.O.S.A.-approved course

Gordon Institute for Music Learning*
Early Childhood Music Level 1
July 20-July 31 (Monday-Friday); 8:30 am-5:00 pm
Jennifer Bailer and Herbert Marsah, Instructors; 4 credits; $710+
Gordon's Music Learning Theory, and their applications in the Instrumental Classroom. Participants will learn new approaches to musicianship, pedagogy, and assessment. Some prior knowledge of music learning theory is helpful for this course. Tuition includes required $100 fee for Gordon Institute membership and certification.

Housing at Davidson Commons for Gordon Institute and Orff-Schulwerk :


Participants will be housed in the recently-renovated and air-conditioned Davidson Commons. The Davidson Commons has a resident hall lounge that includes lounge seating, television, drink and snack machines, and a kitchen with a refrigerator and stove. Davidson Commons housing includes: a modern living environment with suite style rooms, in-suite, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi. Each resident has a single room with a bed, dresser, wardrobe, desk and desk chair, the suites also contains a dining table with four chairs and two sofa style chairs. We will require residents to provide all linen, towels and personal items.

Costs for residence halls during the course:
-$600.00, for the residency (Monday, July 6-Friday, July 17 or Monday, July 20-Saturday, July 31)

-$10.00 (exact cash only), refundable key deposits

-Early check-in on Sunday (July 5 or July 19) is available for an extra fee; regular check-in is during the lunch break on the first day of class

- Full Payment is due no later than Monday, June 8, 2015
