Top 10 tips to get grants for your nonprofit,
July 30 seminar provides advice for securing funds
KIRTLAND, Ohio –July 14, 2015 - The Lakeland Community College Nonprofit
and Public Service Center will host “Introduction to Finding Grants: A
Field Guide and So Much More!” Thursday, July 30 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. on
the college's main campus, 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland 44094, in the A
Building, room A-2100. Sign-in, refreshments, and networking begin at 8
a.m. The $45 registration fee includes materials and a continental
breakfast.
This workshop is designed to meet the needs of those who are new to
grantseeking as well as more experienced grantseekers who are looking for
new ideas and information. Participants will learn the 10 most important
things they need to know about finding grants, including: who funds
nonprofits and what their motivations are; what funders really want to
know about the organizations they are interested in funding; how to
identify potential funders and make the first approach; and how to conduct
online grant research.
Capping this valuable session, will be an interactive discussion with
outstanding panelists who will offer both the grantmaker's and the
grantseeker's perspective.
Presenters include: Marcia Egbert, senior program officer for human
services, The George Gund Foundation; Cecil Lipscomb, executive director,
United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, Inc.; Carrie Miller, regional
training specialist, The Foundation Center; Michael Parry, chief
development officer, The City Mission; and Lauren Steiner, president and
founder, Grants Plus. Serving as moderator will be Dick Bennett, CEO of
the Lake County YMCA.
Both board and staff members of nonprofit organizations are encouraged to
attend.
