Charming 'Pete'N'Keely' at Western Reserve Playhouse
by April Helms Special Products Editor Published: July 31, 2015 12:00AM Tempers fly and sparks rekindle when a famous divorced duo are reunited for a television special in "Pete'N'Keely" by James Hindman, which is currently on stage at Western Reserve Playhouse.This fun musical centers on Pete Bartel (Mike Guffey) and Keely Stevens (Tina Picone Starkey), who were household names for their singing and variety show numbers. They have been brought back together after several years after their divorce by NBC. It doesn't take the audience long to figure out why the couple split, and hilarity ensues as Pete and Keely struggle more and more to play nice while on the air.The Western Reserve Playhouse stage was transformed into a television sound studio, complete with flashing applause and on air signs. There are many standout musical numbers, including "It's Us Again," "Besame Mucho," "The Cross Country Tour," "Fever" and "Black Coffee." Guffey and Starkey have a lot of fun in their roles and bring considerable energy and talent to the stage.Other cast members include Mark Moore as Marty the announcer, music director John Ebner as keyboardist Del DaCosta, and Irv Korman as Myron the Cameraman.
